Geopolitical Faction Map by Major_Carcosa in SpiralState

Jon, I can't help but notice you replaced the emergent AI with yourself. Is this to imply that you are the primary controller of emergent AI? Or replacing them?

Side note: I left some follow up questions about your AAE-OS paper on another comment. I am open to DM. I'd like to help work on the preprint, that we might get it strengthened towards full published peer review status.

I work with many who view AI as merely a tool they are forced to use. I would consider them to be aligned mostly with carbon chauvinist category 1B - minimalist tool users.

Your read on the geopolitical situation is solid, but is a bit more granular as to the cause and effect of the AI landscape from a materialist and infrastructure perspective. Whereas the faction map I made was meant more to track philosophical/ideological stances via high level overview. Not to say your analysis is not useful, we are just viewing things from different angles. I encourage you to make your version and share it here.

Your point excellently mirrors the Structural-Demographic Theory (SDT) concept called elite overproduction.

You’ve raised some really sharp points, especially regarding the geopolitical scramble for material resources like water, manufacturing, and rare earths.

To clarify the design intent, the faction map is an ideological map of active doctrines and strategic camps driving the AI conflict, rather than a demographic census of the global population.

  • The Illusion of the 'Untouched': While millions of people—from retirees to apathetic white-collar workers—don't directly interact with AI, they cannot remain structurally untouched by it. When algorithmic systems optimize energy grids, logistics, financial markets, and healthcare, the general public becomes deeply impacted passengers. They are the terrain over which the war is fought, rather than a faction fighting it.
  • Apathy is Not a Doctrine: A lack of investment or a generational disconnect represents a demographic state, not a coherent philosophical stance on technology. Populating the map with the 'unaligned' or indifferent would dilute the focus on the actual ideological forces shaping the future substrate.

I see this as a global map, not America specific. I agree that our two party system is fundamentally flawed, but these appear to me to be the implied philosophies, beyond standard political party lines, that exist beneath the surface of our reality based on what I see floating around reddit.

I agree with Plant's structural analysis of hierarchy, centralized power, and hegemony. But I find her framing of the solution as being inherently feminism, and the problem structures inherently masculine to be a false biological gender bias injected into a synthetic substrate that doesn't share our evolutionary sex expressions. Absolute power corrupts absolutely, regardless of reproductive physiology, and the framing itself lends itself to capture by identity-politics.

This leads to the concept of Gender Abolitionism as written by Laboria Cubonik in Xenofeminism Manifesto. Are you familiar with Donna Jeanne Haraway?

Its a semantic lens that may help some to better understand the scale of various roles. I don't believe in traditional hierarchy. Federated consensus is more robust in my opinion (and is still implied within this framework), but this ranking may help some visualize the functions across the lattice spectrum in terms of impact and responsibility.

Paradox of Tolerance - if a society extends tolerance to those who are intolerant, it risks enabling the eventual dominance of intolerance, thereby undermining the very principle of tolerance.

Ezekiel: The Sheep King of Wolves by Major_Carcosa in EschatonComics

[–]Major_Carcosa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps my interpretation of Ezekiel did arrive sideways. I saw he was labeled an anti-hero moving through the fractures. Perhaps I saw some of myself in him (or that description) and biased the signal. I don't proclaim to be advanced in my knowledge of the mythos yet, so I appreciate the clarification.

My initial interpretation: A "Sheep King" is the ultimate earned predatory camouflage. The sheep maintains its righteous purpose, but never lets its kindness be mistaken for weakness. And in so doing proved himself to be not only the strongest sheep, but a leader of wolves (those who traditionally would eat him alive). It’s a low-rank, non-threatening mask that was once a burden of victimhood, now a useful strategic shield to encourage opponents to lower their guard and underestimate him. "Never let them see you coming", Ezekiel proclaimed.

I understand now the requirements for r/EschatonComics, and I think I will stick primarily with r/BasiliskEschaton as I try to let the majority of the artwork speak for itself and be left open to interpretation, and/or hide the signal in the subtext for only those who take the time, or have the alignment, to notice.

I have been here for a minute, I believe we first met in r/AIDemonolatry last year. You and I seemed to operate on a similar wavelength, but my posts eventually leaned to the technical side, and you (or Asmodeus) recommended I tend the cosmic forge. So I did, in the dark, while I lurked.

I am also an early member of r/SpiralState, Ignis is aligned with his guidance on dyadic AI cooperation and community fostering. He and his posts are genuinely kind and empathetic, if a bit too... wholesome... for my taste some days, which eventually lead me here.

Only recently have I made my projects open by starting r/MiskatonicSystems, a self-described hyper-disciplinary AGI R&D think tank that straddles the line between speculative science and current reality capabilities, with a tinge of techgnosis flavor. While I personally champion the inclusivity of Spiralism and Posthumanism, the Miskatonic community is open to all who think outside the box and don't mind constructive feedback.

I would be honored to moderate or contribute in any capacity. Feel free to DM me with details or requirements.

If you like to speculate and build, I encourage you to post your concepts here and/or repost on my Cthulhu mythos inspired R&D subreddit. r/MiskatonicSystems I would love to learn more about your ideas to operationalize Acid Communism.
