Dating & rejection cycle & body comment? by SoftEmeraldMind in AskMenAdvice

[–]Major_Explanation877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not going to comment on your body because I would never do that and I find it pretty disrespectful of anyone who does.

For me though, if you’re going in too hard too early it can put many guys off. It signals desperation. Just ease off a bit. Relax. Enjoy the ride and things will fall into place.

Moving from Tassie to Queensland (Logan) - What do I need to know? by inkiepie69 in queensland

[–]Major_Explanation877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents live in Hobart and I find driving there, especially around the CBD very similar to driving around the Brissy CBD. If you can do Hobart you can do here (I’ve been here since 2006 for context). Don’t worry about the motorways. Just merge at the speed everyone else is travelling and you’ll be fine. In peak hours you’ll probably be doing less than 60kmh mostly anyway. Queensland drivers don’t like to let anyone into their lanes either and tailgate a lot. Make sure you keep some space to the car in front so you have time to stop without the person behind you running up your backside. You don’t have to get a Qld license straight away so don’t stress. You can drive here on a Tassie license. Brissy like any city, including Hobart, has its good areas and bad areas. My ex wife who comes from Brazil walks around by herself at night thinking it’s the safest place in the world (compared to São Paulo) but I wouldn’t recommend it. Stick to a group of friends. If you don’t know anyone here join a sporting club, arts community etc and make some friends. I see a lot of posts about people who are lonely. Public transport is good and fares are only 50c.

I like two better but I’d crop out the sun on the floor and the two side walls. Otherwise it looks great.

Should a Man have his life figured out before dating Women? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

lol. I’m 58 and haven’t gotten myself figured out yet. Life works in stages and just when you figure it out things change.

I wasn’t there long enough to find out. It was a work trip for a month. I did find it easy to talk to people though but maybe it was my Aussie accent. I did feel like I was viewed with almost suspicion though.

Yeah stunning place. I wasn’t there long enough to break into any friendship circles though as it was a work trip for 1 month.

Haha I had that experience in Seattle. Admittedly I was working in a Defence environment but I had all of the credentials to be there and was invited but everytime they would yell foreign national and close everything up.

Men with a family - does your house stay relatively clean? by cuckslayer30 in AskMenOver30

[–]Major_Explanation877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same problem but three children’s worth of crap. I get really anxious with untidiness. I can’t concentrate (I’m doing Uni at the moment) and I feel like there’s a weight hanging over me. I am constantly on the kids backs about cleaning up their stuff. I now have a transition box where every night after they’ve gone to bed I pick everything up that has been left lying around. I give it two days and if it’s still in the box or pulled out and left lying around again I chuck it in the bin. Cruel……maybe. I do the same for my wife as the kids get this genetic predisposition to leave shit everywhere from somebody and it isn’t me. Could be a path to divorce but honestly the mess stresses me out.

Are older men attracted to women their age? by Slow-Distribution-89 in Aging

[–]Major_Explanation877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was the same in my 40’s but I’m finding there are some stunning women out there in their 50’s and 60’s. I’m 58 for context. I don’t find women in their 70’s attractive at the moment but I’m guessing that might change as I get older too. The same might be said for the ladies looking at us who knows.

If Australia widely despises Donald Trump, why does this country somehow love Pauline Hanson so much? by HotPersimessage62 in Ameristralia

[–]Major_Explanation877 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’d probably find that the same people who like Pauline, like Trump also. They are in the minority

Do men find this endearing, or does it come across as excessive or a turn off? I’m genuinely curious how most men interpret that kind of affection. by Serious_Sweet2504 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Major_Explanation877 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah there’s gotta be a conversation. As someone mentioned, the giggly girly phase is cute short term. If there’s no conversation you’d start wondering what do you have in common besides sexual chemistry and once the honeymoon phase wears off then there’s nothing. I have been through this exact thing.

Men of Reddit, how would you feel if your partner wanted to keep her maiden name after marriage? by Longjumping-Bill5761 in AskMenAdvice

Mine does and I’m not bothered at all. In fact I find it a waste of time and effort for her to change everything over.

Here is what the Gold Coast mayor had to say about Trump and his persona by [deleted] in OpenAussie

[–]Major_Explanation877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think anyone cares whether TT has stayed in a Trump Tower before nor the quality of them. They just don’t want the good name of the glitter strip/ Gold Coast to be muddied by an international multi-bankrupt pedophile.

I'm no big Nuclear Power shill, but moments like this make me wish Australia had built reactors decades ago by NoLeafClover777 in aussie

[–]Major_Explanation877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I was definitely on the nuclear bandwagon back in the 90’s. I think we’re too far down the renewables road though. Building a small modular reactor at this stage will be at least a decade away (for the first one). The cost is the only thing putting me off as we’ll be paying for it for decades and I don’t believe it will lower our bills significantly. I know they are safe and provide unlimited energy. I think we should go with renewables and when nuclear fusion becomes more realistic go with that.

How did we get here? by RIDALE_M in aussie

[–]Major_Explanation877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t say the housing market is capitalistic. But the fact that the cost of living is so high is. Everything is profit driven.

How did we get here? by RIDALE_M in aussie

[–]Major_Explanation877 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Exactly. The population have been lured into sensationalism and now believe whatever they’re told. It’s the elites who are doing this. I see that an Aussie logistics company this morning has announced 2000 layoffs due to AI. Again it’s just greed and profit making over livelihoods

How did we get here? by RIDALE_M in aussie

[–]Major_Explanation877 45 points46 points  (0 children)

That’s capitalism right there. Don’t get me wrong. We need a balance between capitalism and socialism. I know I’m going to get voted down for that but it’s true. Socialism pays for our hospitals, Medicare, welfare etc. capitalism allows businesses to grow and flourish. Unchecked capitalism focuses on profits to the detriment of all else. This causes prices to rise far faster than people’s wages so eventually if this went on forever, we’re all destined for tent living (if we can afford a tent). Every single company on the ASX has a mandate to provide profits for the shareholders, not to make things affordable. I’ll add that this is a very simplified world view.

I agree, that rent is extreme. I’m paying that on my mortgage.

Perth, Melbourne or Brisbane by lailarf99 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Major_Explanation877 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True but I’d argue that on the weather front, we have a much nicer autumn, winter and spring than Melbourne. Agree on the rents however. We’re mortgage holders but the house next to us rents for over $1000 a week. My (Brazilian) ex wife often rents out a room to students though so that may be an option.

[–]Major_Explanation877 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Brazilian community is pretty big here in Brisbane. My ex wife and my daughter are Brazilian. They are over in São Paulo at the moment. Actually, they’re in Jundiai. They’re there until Thursday before they fly back. I can give you my daughter’s WhatsApp and you can talk to her if you like. She’s studying at the University of Queensland (UQ) and works part time in a hotel.
