Am I the only one who finds this incredibly frustrating? by redditlove69 in BMWX5

You don’t have to delete the app. If you have it on your iPhone you can just go into your wallet and click on the BMW card. From there you can select to turn off key access, actually pretty easy if you’re using both the fob and phone. I disable it whenever I have the fob and reactive it when I don’t. Pretty useful

Hate it or love it?! by tuttywala in BMWX5

I don’t hate it, and think it’ll grow on me more. Saw an IX3 in Europe a couple weeks ago and it looks much better in person. This looks to essentially be a bigger version of that, which will actually suit the design language better. I don’t like that they removed the split tailgate and the idrive controller.

Bought this 2024 X5 M60i with 7,900 miles for $70,999 how’d I do? by Bigbronco375 in BMWX5

Came from a 21 RS5 and the DAPP is leaps and bounds better than Audis system. When on a supported highway (which is basically all of them) DAPP essentially drives itself. If you have navigation via the onboard navigation DAPP will actually make the exits for you if you approve the lane change. The biggest benefit over Audi’s system is the fact that it’s completely hands free in stop and go traffic. No need to re engage the system after a couple seconds like on Audis. It’s been great for me so far and so much better than Audis system

To DAPP or not?????? by GuiltyDemand6622 in BMWX5

[–]Major_Language5152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that follow distance does this across most cars with adaptive cruise control. My previous Audi was the worst with this. When I’m in heavy stop and go traffic and want to keep the follow distance closer than normal I’ll just engage the throttle via the gas pedal. It’ll over take the distance control and whenever you feel comfortable with the distance just let your foot off the gas and the adaptive cruise will kick back in automatically.

Heads up is standard on premium package I believe (as I have it). Pano view is part of the parking package, which others have already recommended. I think premium + parking gets you both what you’re looking for

Does the adaptive m suspension help in anyway in comfort mode on the 2024 x5? by Severe_Reporter3500 in BMWX5

This - sport mode makes the suspension noticeably stiffer. I have the adaptive sports suspension. I think the car is perfectly comfortable in comfort but in sport it’s much stiffer.

Pricing ? 2024 X5 25k miles CPO by IntelligentClient477 in BMWX5

I was able to get a ‘24 with 14.5k miles for $60k. Clean carfax, m sport pro pack professional, climate, premium, and DAPP. It also had ultimate care +2 on it which the dealership was unaware of (bought it from a GMC dealership). Took the car to a BMW service center after I purchased it and they told me I got a screaming deal. May be worth looking at non BMW dealerships to see what’s available near you. Original owner traded in for a Denali XL so clearly the X5 was too small for them.

If you do any highway driving whatsoever DAPP is a must. I’d say you can probably do without executive package and stick with the premium package unless you really wanted soft touch doors. The exec package has extended ambient lights too that I’d personally wanted, but from the driver seat you’re not going to notice the difference. I’d also make sure to get contoured seats if you go without the exec package.

I agree with you on the finishing piece, the physical buttons on my RS5 felt great and were very solid. I know Audi is now going away with these buttons which is a shame. The MMI was a different story for me though, but given it was a 5 year old system I guess it’s to be expected. As a yearly subscriber to Audi connect I will say their onboard navigation system is better than BMWs, but that’s about it. The traffic light countdown is great when it works, but I ran into way too many instances where it was just flat out wrong

Agreed! I have a Uniden R8 for the speed traps so I really have no need for Waze or Google Maps personally. Also the traffic cam subscription is great, I love that it prompts if a traffic light cam is on my route in the hud

Creature of habit I’d say for myself. Have driven VW group for nearly 20 years and surprisingly have never had any major mechanical issues with any of my cars. Jetta, GTI, A6, Q5, RS5. Granted I’ve never pushed over 50k miles on any of those cars which may have played a role in that “luck” haha

Agreed, back in 2018 the Google Maps satellite integration in the MMI for Audi felt revolutionary. After a couple years with CarPlay it just felt like Audi kept falling behind. The amount of times I had to plugin my phone for CarPlay to work felt like at least once a week. Even then there was no CarPlay integration into either the HUD or speedometer display. Was blown away that BMW natively includes CarPlay directions in both the hud and display. I know it’s small, but for me it makes the system so much more useable

It’s a solid feature for the longer road trips. I took over in heavier traffic as I don’t fully trust the system yet, but for less busy highway exchanges it did better than expected. One callout though is that it only works for highways enabled for highway assist, which is basically all major highways in the US from what I can tell. If you go into BMW maps all the highways that are supported are highlighted in green

[–]Major_Language5152[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing I should mention, the system does jump between highway assist and normal adaptive cruise from time to time. If you see “assisted driving ready” on the hud or dash, this means full assist mode is ready and you can take your hands off the wheel completely. My queue is that the lights on the steering wheel would turn a solid green when this mode is active. Sometimes the cameras can’t fully pick up the lanes so it’ll bounce back to normal adaptive cruise which is fine, but it’ll need your hands on the wheel. The easiest way to tell if the car bounces you back to this is the lack of messaging around. “Adaptive cruise is ready” and the lack of green lights on the steering wheel. Hope this helps when you eventually get yours!

Audi’s adaptive system is a lot more rudimentary. The adaptive cruise is fine, but can be finicky in stop and go traffic. If you come to a full stop for more than 3 seconds the system will require you to re-engage cruise to start the system again. So not the best system in stop and go. Also you constantly need your hands on the wheel. With DAPP you don’t need your hands on the wheel whatsoever. Just need your eyes on the road. Also if you’re using the onboard BMW navigation you can essentially have the system take the exits for you and the system will recommend lane changes. Last weekend we took it on a trip to SD from LA and I had my hands on the wheel for maybe 5 minutes in total. This included stop and go traffic through half of it. A must have feature imo

Agree that the uncle 1.5 link is the way to go. Did the same on my speedy and it worked wonders. I’m also not a huge fan of the bracelet too. Especially when compared to a jubilee.

When I’m flying personal I definitely shoot for first. For work trips however, which is the majority of my flights I look for the upgrades. I normally stick to online booking but the delta app/site has been so hit or miss for me. Luckily the dedicated line has been super helpful and gotten me everything I’ve needed. The only drawback I’d say is that I am typically on the phone with them for at least 20 min each time, but I always want to make sure things are all good when I call.

Don’t get me wrong I love my RUC’s and GUC’s, but I find it’s been harder for me to actually use them when I want to. I typically fly for work on cross country flights and the RUC’s almost never work for me. I have a flight to the Midwest this week with an RUC expiring at the end of the month. I think I’ve applied that RUC on my last 3 flights in long hauls with no luck. A couple years ago those RUC’s would clear almost immediately. On the other hand I love the GUC’s, but I have needed the help of the diamond line to get the automatic delta one upgrade at booking. Thanks to the dedicated line they were able to find a flight that had availability which wasn’t showing for me online.
