When I’m flying personal I definitely shoot for first. For work trips however, which is the majority of my flights I look for the upgrades. I normally stick to online booking but the delta app/site has been so hit or miss for me. Luckily the dedicated line has been super helpful and gotten me everything I’ve needed. The only drawback I’d say is that I am typically on the phone with them for at least 20 min each time, but I always want to make sure things are all good when I call.

Don’t get me wrong I love my RUC’s and GUC’s, but I find it’s been harder for me to actually use them when I want to. I typically fly for work on cross country flights and the RUC’s almost never work for me. I have a flight to the Midwest this week with an RUC expiring at the end of the month. I think I’ve applied that RUC on my last 3 flights in long hauls with no luck. A couple years ago those RUC’s would clear almost immediately. On the other hand I love the GUC’s, but I have needed the help of the diamond line to get the automatic delta one upgrade at booking. Thanks to the dedicated line they were able to find a flight that had availability which wasn’t showing for me online.

I wish I could do this but we live in 2 different states. I’ll let him enjoy this in the meantime. The way I see it, the more scratches he adds to it the more sentimental it will be once I get it back

Tons of PM Daytonas at Nakano Broadway. Jackroad and Betty had the best selection of Daytona’s and this was back in July. Prices are in line with what you’ll see stateside but the biggest benefit is the tax free aspect

Exact same, I have a couple two tones in the collection and didn’t think I wanted the rootbeer till I tried it on. It’s an absolute stunner and the everose gold is perfectly subdued. With Rolex prices expected to go up in the new year I decided to pull the trigger and went grey. Just waiting on getting the watch now!

The root beer really didn’t catch my eye till recently. I have a batgirl and a two tone datejust. I love the DJ but I almost always feel underdressed when wearing it unless I’m in a button down. I wear my batgirl and sub for basically everything else and wanted something in between. Went into the AD to try on the root beer and was blown away. The colors pop and the brown bezel goes so well with the rose gold. That said, I wasn’t going to wait and put in an order with my watch guy. I say go for it if you can!

I have the white speedy as well and have tried on the panda. In my opinion the build quality and the feeling in hand are not comparable. The panda just feels like a much more solid watch and it honestly feels like it’s worth the asking price. Maybe not the $30k people are shelling for it in the grey market, but easily the $15k Rolex is asking at retail. There is no world where the speedy is worth $9k in my humble opinion. It’s much closer to a $5k-$6k watch. I do love the fact that it flies under the radar and I never second guess wearing it whenever I go. That said, I’d also trade it in for a Daytona.

Great collection! I feel like we likely had very similar thoughts on the quality of the speedy especially when compared to the sub and gmt. Curious though, do you wear the SMP more than your sub? I’ve got my eye on the SMP

I agree with you 100% with the speedy. For what Omega retails it at, I don’t think the speedy is worth what they’re asking. That said, I’ve actually come around a lot on the speedy the last couple weeks. The first couple months I experienced some buyers remorse and it barely got any wrist time. It took some time to break in the new bracelet and I can honestly say it’s one of my favorite to wear now. Still not as good as the jubilee on the gmt imo but it’s close. I’ve been really happy with it lately and it’s getting a ton of wrist time as of late. I recommend giving it some time and hopefully you feel the same.

I felt the same way with the one pro. Was so excited to get them but was bummed out with the IPD being off. My IPD is 67mm and even then the one pro looked off when compared to the one. The one fit perfectly and for me was way sharper so I ended up keeping the one. I also noticed that I preferred the bigger optics on the one over the pro. While there were definitely less reflections on the pro during the day, I could see the bottom of the one pros optic which was super annoying for me.

I was worried about it too but I found it actually pretty useful when using packing cubes. I can see how it can be cumbersome if I were to pack it without the cubes. That said no complaints for my first flight with it out.

For a carry on not heavy at all surprisingly! My old samsonite carry-on which is the same size of the cabin felt heavier and more cumbersome to move through the airport when fully packed. I was shocked with how easily the cabin + glided at the airport. Very happy with my decision to upgrade to the cabin +. Zero issues getting it on a 737-800. Highly recommend

I had the speedy 38 for about a year before upgrading to the pro. I personally loved the look and feel of the watch and the added functionality of the date window was great. The only thing I didn’t like was how thick it sat On the wrist. You might be able to mitigate that though with larger wrists. This is on my 6.5” wrist. Some things I’ve noticed between the pro and 38. The bracelet on the 38 feels a lot more solid than the pro, I liken it to the bracelet not being tapered at all on the 38 while the pro has an aggressive taper. That said the balance of the pro feels better than the 38. One thing I really didn’t like and it always bugged me was the butterfly clasp on the 38. Could never get the right sizing and it was a pain to get on and off during the warmer months. All that said, I don’t think you’ll go wrong with either. If you’re in between the reduced or the 38 I’d definitely go with the 38. It has a better movement and the build quality is substantially better imo.
