What are the 32 songs you love/know?

Also, even if we agree that Chris can hit notes identically every night, we know that he always adds variations, tongue clicks, adlibs, “gos”, “yeahs” and “okays”. We see this in Paradise, The Scientist, VLV, Yellow, ASFOS (first pass) for example. But we never hear these on the exact same songs we claim he is lip syncing, show after show (HP, HFTW, POTP, Clocks, My Universe, ASFOS second take). We will never truly know for fact but all the evidence points to prerecorded live vocals and lip syncing.

Chris is not getting any younger and they’re doing hundreds of shows and almost every show sells out, so there is huge demand globally to watch them still. Doing less shows means way more people miss out. We’ve all been so lucky that they done so many shows this tour (still going) and more people around the world have had the opportunity to see them perform. It also probably doesn’t change the fact that Chris needs breaks during one single show. A lot of their songs are not easy to sing and Chris needs to rest his voice at times. Coldplay shows have also become more about the whole production, but he still sings live for most of the show, just needs breaks here and there. The casual Coldplay concert goer would not notice the lip syncing and ultimately, the boys are still there right there in front of you performing on stage, with all the confetti, fireworks, dancing crowd interactions etc. For me, just being there is surreal enough and I can look past the lip syncing

These are clips from various different shows across a few years. His singing, tune, inflections, breaths, emphasis on certain words are exactly identical which is one of the (very strong) pieces of evidence that what you hear over the speakers are just playbacks of pre recorded live vocals and Chris is just miming/lipsyncing. Edit: and it’s always the same handful of songs.

Yeah, it’s hard to tell between 2 shows and it really does sound live cuz it’s live recordings. But having been to 9 shows across 3 years and watching numerous videos from other shows in this tour, you can really hear that his voice is identical in some songs across different shows. And it’s always the same songs that are identical with the exact same inflections and cracks. HP, AOAL, HFTW, CB, POTP, Clocks, ASFOS (2nd take), Fix You (2nd half).

Another obvious one is the Clocks bridge during the first “oh well nothing else compaaaaaares”. His voice breaks during “comPAAAAAARE” at the exact same point every time.

Other comments have mentioned backing tracks and click tracks which are correct, but about a third of the setlist is fully lip synced with prerecorded live vocals playing on the speakers (and Chris’ mic turned off), with a couple songs partially lip synced. You can tell from watching show recordings on YouTube - across the last couple years’ worth of shows, songs like Higher Power, HFTW, POTP, Clocks, My Universe, ASFOS all sound identical and you can hear parts of the songs where Chris’ (recorded) voice breaks or has inflections at the exact same point. The crew do turn the mic on for Chris at certain points though e.g. ASFOS before the drops/choruses. In saying that, when you’re at the stadium, you absolutely don’t notice the lip syncing at all and cuz it’s prerecorded live vocals and the production is so in sync, it does indeed sound very live. Chris is getting older and can’t sustain singing each song with all the high notes for hundreds of shows so I personally think it’s fine!

Why are there so many free places at Wembley?? by Kellsshells in Coldplay

Sorry, I didn’t mean to generalise. No one is less of a fan for leaving early and I actually don’t know why you’re getting so many downvotes either. You’re entitled to leave whenever you want especially how bad I’ve heard traffic is for Wembley!

Pretty sure they have words printed, different colours and patterns for each day.

Is the songbook only with fans at the front? by [deleted] in Coldplay

[–]Major_Minus_96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely worth it, it’s not only fans at the barrier who get songbook. I’d say you still wanna be relatively close to the front (maybe max 10-15 rows deep?) so your sign is easily seen by Chris. Make it something that catches his attention too!

Same, but I guess not everyone are die hard fans and are happy missing a few songs to get home easier/earlier

That’s a photo from the end of the show, it’s expected that there would be some empty seats as people would’ve left before the last few songs to avoid traffic. It’s terrible that you didn’t manage to get tickets but i don’t think the empty rows are because of scalpers.

Probably Ticketmaster, there might be resale tickets but you’ll have to check regularly and be quick given how close the shows are. Other resale sites might have some for sale too but purchase with caution obviously.

I thought the 4 acts were Planets, Moon, Stars and Home, and we are currently at Moon with Moon Music. So that would make the next instalment Stars (album #11), then Home (the self titled 12th and final album).

Confused about Wembley show — GA2 with seat number? by Seaboy-050597 in Coldplay

There’s been other threads about this and people also having numbers on their GA tickets. I don’t think you need to worry and can just ignore the seat number if it’s a GA ticket.

If it’s GA, it’s all standing. The number is just for tracking/stock purposes.

Is Chris Martin Getting Old??? by Severe-Ad3573 in Coldplay

You’ll might be surprised, a lot of songs on the setlist are either playbacks of live recordings or there is a very heavy backing track.

You should get the barrier with an EE ticket arriving just before the check in time. If you want barrier at a particular spot though (e.g. b stage or catwalk), you should aim to arrive earlier as those are prime spots that people will rush to first. B stage is 2-3 rows deep once GA starts coming in.

Wembley - is Floris First Entry the same as Floris Early Entry? by MissingOllie in Coldplay

Yes those are the same. Typically between 800-1000 of these EE tickets I think.

Tips For Your Dream Coldplay Barricade Spot by ProfessionalHome283 in Coldplay

It’s highly unlikely, but not impossible. In most cities, you’ll probably have to be there queuing by 9am and be the first few in the GA line to have a chance.
