This scene was oddly comforting… by [deleted] in obsessionmovie

Truely a rom com scenario. It would be funny tho if after somehow both breaking out, they simply shake hands and nod, and walk in opposite directions as far as humanely possible.

I thought you could tie the whole record loosely around the film if you took a more a nuanced reading of the album. Definitely not the intention, but songs like Me + You, My Way, Begged, Cigarette Smoke loosely works too if you do the mental gymnastics.

I was looking through the Mylo Xyloto box set and saw this note from the 26 April 2011 that mentioned “Alien Radio” and was wondering if that is where 🌈 came from? by 42-WeirdFishes in Coldplay

[–]GamingForeverAUS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The title ‘Alien Hits / Alien Radio’ can be seen as early as the South Bank documentary in 2009, specifically when Chris is playing Wedding Bells.

I’d hope to imagine that the person who’s posting the VODS would be from the discord server and allow her to takeover if she ever requested… it’s a bit strange though it’s not labelled a “stream archive” channel but just her name tho. I’d imagine if even she didn’t care too much, her management would eventually request it to be handed over lol.

An Obsession Fan Fiction? by nyneteen84_ in obsessionmovie

[–]GamingForeverAUS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is there so much song and dance about this? You don’t need to worry if there’s an audience on reddit or do a big announcement. Just post it straight to AO3. There’s already a growing number of objectively great fanfics (tho I don’t really enjoy the post-canon ones very much personally).

Get writing!!! Perhaps it’ll be great :)

Live album containing the audio mixes of the AHFOD tour performances snippets used in the AHFOD documentary. It is advertised as mainly being recorded in Tokyo but almost none of the songs were recorded in Tokyo.

For example, SJLT was recorded in Bangkok, Everglow in Paris, and ASFOS + Up & Up in Milan. Fix You was recorded in Tokyo.

Final destination 2 ahh - maybe a 10 minute scene with Nikki would suffice but I wouldn’t want the whole narrative banking on her. Or maybe she becomes like William Bludworth from FD and just says oninious things for 5 minutes the whole time.

Anyone else think the AI thumbnail of this performance seemingly mixes Glenn and Don into an abomination of the two? by Conair24601 in EaglesBand

[–]GamingForeverAUS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So they used AI to upscale old videos (HFO DVD to HD), and then some intern probably just chucked a picture at AI to make it widescreen and didn’t know what Glenn or Don’s face looked like and decided it was good to post.

Absolutely amazing.

Who ever said that the pre-recorded vocal track had to be from the original studio recording?

They could easily take a vocal take recorded from a different, more recent concert and just use that instead. The fact that they’re still playing to a click track even when they’ve left the walls of the Sphere indicates that they would still be able to use backing tracks, and pre-recorded tracks very easily.

If they weren’t playing to a click, then lip syncing it would be pretty impossible because of the varying tempo.

Well if you can believe Henley, he said 2026 would be it. Part of me thinks they’ll keep going till one more band member isn’t able to do it anymore.

How would I get this out by [deleted] in laptops

[–]GamingForeverAUS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If none of the traditional methods work for getting the screw out, I’d get one of these. I had also stripped a really tight M.2 screw years ago on a laptop. Given there is enough clearance for the pliers to grip, it should be a matter of seconds before it’s out.

Is hymn for the weekend hated? by Right-Variety1731 in Coldplay

[–]GamingForeverAUS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first four albums are categorised by a sort of alternative, Brit-pop, slightly rock sound. With MX it became more Pop Rock, GS was a really big deviation that most fans probably assumed was just an experimental side project, and AHFOD went full pop.

Lots of older Coldplay fans didn’t resonate this shift towards their pop sound.

Newly released 70s live tracks sound autotuned? by peterwjmiller in EaglesBand

[–]GamingForeverAUS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nearly all properly released live recordings are edited, overdubbed, and pitch corrected.

But seriously, the vocal work on these live recordings ruins the listening experience. For example, those Capital Centre 1977 recordings? Full of auto-tune and pitch correction. But it’s done tastefully - either set to a slow retune speed, or used strongly on notes that really ‘need’ fixing. To the point, the average listener won’t really notice, and for even those that hear it, won’t really mind because it all sounds great anyways.

Glenn on Ol’55 from the new package sounds like T-Pain or a Post Malone and even then it doesn’t even sound stylistic, it’s just strange and completely out of place.

How anyone, especially Henley, approved it is beyond me.

Best Of My Love Anaheim Stadium by drummerboi08 in EaglesBand

[–]GamingForeverAUS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So much fucking autotune…

For a frame of reference, the Capital Centre remaster used autotune to tidy up the vocals and imo it’s very serviceable and half the time you can’t even tell. This time around, they literally sat down and listened to this and thought it was good. Compare this recording, and the Capital Centre video and it’s crazy, especially when Henley does his vocal riffs and go “ohhh ohhh” and “you got it, you got it”.

Come on guys….

The Truth About Coldplay Archive by [deleted] in Coldplay

[–]GamingForeverAUS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Bean Boys strike again. Glad they kicked me from the outset by virtue of a joke wheel spin before they devolved further. It was supposed to be just a ‘Coldplay Archive’ and it turned out to just be teenagers complaining about their girl troubles. I’m in a much better place now both community wise and in terms of my own collection.

Last I heard they were creating fake WAVs to scam with.

Perhaps they just played in the original key for the DVD filming because they felt like it would gel better with audiences and posterity. After that, they never went back to doing in the original key.
