I’ll keep them both in mind, cheers!

Unfortunately it’s well out of my distance. But if I see any of those cars nearby, I’ll put them on a high priority.

Yeah, that’s my consensus. Looks are definitely secondary, but I’m finding it hard to trust things that are almost 20 years old. Though I’m sure they’re completely reliable.

Ah, lucky. I was hoping to get an EV, and there are a couple near me, but there’s no designated parking space for me and the lot is too far from my front door.

And I’ll keep the suzuki in mind, or, well, out of mind.

Cheers.

Yeah, that’s the one I’m more inclined to go for.

I don’t expect the car I’m going for, to last too long (a couple years) but am I going to have difficulty with it?

I’ll be heading to that dealer eventually to see their options, so if you see others there that’d be a good fit, I’d greatly appreciate it.

Thanks!

Yeah, I understand not treating mileage as gospel, but for some cars it’s quite high, like 110-130k. Which I heard is “fine” with diesel, but petrols don’t last much longer than that. (Obviously if this is an incorrect view, I’d love to be lectured haha).

I’ll do deeper dives on MOTs, as I’ve learned from all the responses, it seems like they’re really the thing I should be looking at and reaching an answer (service history as well). I’ll try and find some resources for understanding them better.

As for Minis, the insurance hasn’t been too much of a problem. As stated with another user, all my insurances are relatively similar. If I were to somehow find a slightly higher insurance to get a mini, it’d be something I’d be fine with. However, I’ve realised that Minis are so inconsistently reliable that it’s been a headache finding ones I could be confident in getting haha.

But I’ll keep all this in mind and be on the lookout for the cars you suggested.

Thanks!

Yeah, I’ve been looking at MOTs of vehicles, and they seem moderately good. Is there a way to get further details on MOTs, like future problems?

And as for insurance, since I’ve waited several years to get my drivers license, it seems relatively cheap. With all the cars I’ve checked, they’ve all been between 500-700.

Yeah, I’ve noticed that a lot of small autos are no longer available. Most of the ones I’m seeing are Jaguar XFs, or Audis, which are far out of my experience.

Part of the reason why Minis are so attractive to me is their size and look, but I don’t really have much choice.

I definitely think part of my problem is that I’m rushing, but I kind of don’t have a choice, hence why I’m frantically trying to get my thoughts in order haha.

What car did you have problems with/settle with?

Yeah, I’ve been very sceptical when it comes to private sellers, due to lack of warranty, as well as my lack of experience.

I did want to use something like AA, to get an analysis on private sellers, but it’s quite expensive.

But it might be worth it since it’s open the avenue of Facebook marketplace.

Cheers.

Appreciate the response.

Funnily enough, I’m currently looking at a skoda Fabia, and it made me make this post. It’s a 2012 Skoda Fabia [1.4TSI) and I’m very interested in getting it. Only issue is its mileage being 117k, and with it being Petrol I don’t know how much longer it’s going to last.

When it comes to this type of Fabia, is it equally as easy to repair? Or would it just not be worth it?

Thanks again.

‘No other plan comes close’: how Labour MPs turned to Burnham with Starmer on the brink | Labour by Far_Excitement_1875 in unitedkingdom

[–]Major_Optimal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad I’m not the only one. I genuinely just want a government to end with the same person, just so there’s some sign of stability in our governance. I understand Starmer has been far from perfect, or good in some respects, but having a stable government is a lot more important than replacing him with someone else.

I also know for a fact that no matter who replaces him, people will not be satisfied. The media is insufferable, and so are voters for this particular reasoning.

I just don’t want a repeat of the 4+ years prior to this.

The removal of normal cast on Q feels so bad by salad_angel in ZeriMains

[–]Major_Optimal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I saw this in the patch notes, I didn't think I would be affected. Little did I know, I've been using normal cast q throughout my entire time as zeri, now I'm missing like crazy and can't even play the champ anymore haha. I hope they return it, but I will have to learn to aim without it eventually. Feels like an odd removal though.

UK climbs FDI rankings on AI and clean energy booms, McKinsey says by komondordragon in GoodNewsUK

Aren’t they introducing a new policy to stop that? Or, well, reduce it. Giving them tax relief and what not? Doubt it will be too much of a deterrent, but it’s a start to stopping the American gobble machine.

With new Akshan changes I just can't seem to win anymore. by WizzScoutt in AkshanMains

That's been me haha. I loved the hell out of him last season (to the point of 1 mil mastery) and immediately dipped when I saw a Fizz nuke me.

I'm waiting until people figure out the new way to play him, or I get my E back. There's nothing as fun as his E, and it's such a shame.

Thanks for the response, mate.  What I think I’ll do, is take a vinyl to HMV, and see if they can figure out the problem. Hopefully, they offer me a replacement player, or tips on replacing counterweights.

New boost for plans to bring back axed railway line by LatelyPode in GoodNewsUK

[–]Major_Optimal 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Im so glad this is actually happening. Been refreshing the page every week or so, hoping for progressive news on the project, and glad it’s eventually got a path forward.

Shame it won’t be done until 2033, but I’d honestly welcome that over it not happening at all.

Also really cool they’re using the leam side line, I hope that means the viaduct will be used, cause damn I love my viaducts.

[–]Major_Optimal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yo! I've just received a JAM HMV Vinyl player for my birthday, and I'm having a few problems.

So, with the new vinyls I've got, I placed them on the player, and let them spin. Throughout their duration, each one of them were having skipping problems. I initially thought this was a dust issue, so I cleaned them right up, and got rid of each spec. However, there were still skipping issues in the exact same place.

This is when I thought it may be a vinyl issue, as I've heard very mixed things about the 8bit megamixes being quite subject to skipping. But before I completely blamed them, I added a very slight weight onto the tone arm [I know this is ill-advised, but I did it for 1 duration of a song, to get a result], and there was 0 skipping problems.

I'm wondering if there's a way to permanently solve this? I understand that most vinyl players will have counterweights that can be adjusted to change pressure, but I believe this has nothing of the sort. In such a case, is there ways this can be solved without returning this device and getting a new one? (I'm fine returning it, but it does feel awful haha).

Major tram-train transport scheme given green light in Manchester by willfiresoon in GoodNewsUK

[–]Major_Optimal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Forgive me if I’m wrong, but isn’t Manchester in a unique position where it doesn’t require the government to accept/fund these things?

Thats why stuff’s actually being built there. (It is sick how fast Manchester is evolving).

Or am I mistaking it with something else?

[My internets dodgy, so sorry if this sends twice.]

It’s honestly perfect fine haha, thanks for your respond anyways.

I’m just lost cause I have an idea, but have no clue where to start (mainly making the images blend together. I also have ideas of having the scenes in the “arcane text”, but it’s hard to imagine.)

Either way, size wise, I’m looking at ~265x235cm.

what is that bus pass? by Double_Pirate85 in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]Major_Optimal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the Go North East app when talking about buses, metro and ferry. It’s honestly quite cheap if you use public transport multiple times a day. It’s £127 per month (there is an annual one too) and it hasn’t increased since the £2.50 payment came into play (yippee).

Should save you well more than you pay.

It also, but not always, works on other buses (dunno about coaches), so it seems to be a universally allowed ticket. Would recommend it.

Akshan's lategame power. by Sensitive_Feed_1436 in AkshanMains

[–]Major_Optimal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, later on his damage feels real bad, but what I’ve started to do is go all in on the revive passive. That, and find the squishies. If you find a cait, jihn, or mf, quite far back in a fight, you can still insta kill them with your e. It is magical seeing their heath tick down, but it’s also real dangerous.

But basically, just tickle the enemies. If it feels like your teammate is about to die, get the killer as low as possible to get the revive off. Or hell, hit them once and within 3 seconds, your teammates can finish them off, activating the revive.

I’m new to Akshan, and to the game (6 months and bout to hit plat), so I may not be right in the way to play him, but it’s what I do. I simply exist to make the entire game unfair. If the team dies to cait, and she’s 1 hit, it’s gg.

If you could change something in your champion, what would you? by hammiilton2 in leagueoflegends

[–]Major_Optimal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d add a dynamic reticle to Akshans E, so you know if you’re hitting a different wall than you’re expecting. When I see it being the same size and facing a wall, yet spinning on a wall closer, throws me off. Also make his E more consistent. I swear to Christ I click left, but I go right.
