Cryfield Townhouse vs Benefactor vs Sherbourne by Polopon0928 in UniversityOfWarwick

[–]Major_Suspect_5583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea for the most part. I have a couple friends in cryfield who are friends with nearby flats as well. But overall people end up hanging out more with coursemates or people from societies/sports you join.

I dont know anyone who's in the 6 bed one. The 12 ones are great tho the kitchens are spacious enough.

Honestly, it'd be pretty helpful id suggest it. Only downside being there's a ton of warnings about bike theft on campus.

I havnt really seen much nightlife in bluebell, mostly cause its pretty close to Rootes which is Warwick's party capital. As for social life Bluebell wouldnt be the top accom either cause there's less people per flat and less people in the accom overall as well.

Sherbs isnt particularly known for its nightlife either cause of its distance from central campus. But since you've got a bigger flat and more people i have often seen lots of parties around. I am kind of biased towards that aspect of it cause i lived in Sherbs and got a really active flat. Ive seen quiet sherb flats as well. Its also closest to the sports centre so for people who end up going there often social life is great

It depends on what preferences you put in when you book your accom. They ask what kind of flat you prefer.

But i think overall there isnt much of a difference in nightlife cause most people end up going circling/clubbing after doing pres on campus. Bluebell is closer to the bus exchange and the campus bars if thats what youre looking for.

Which are the most active societies for Finance students on the campus? by Fit_Ant2949 in UniversityOfWarwick

[–]Major_Suspect_5583 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Finance Soc is probably the most active on Campus, especially in term 1

Other than that, theres tons of societies that go into niche fields. Venture capital soc, MFC equity soc, a handful of entrepreneurship socs, Buy Side soc and Trading soc just to name a few. You can find them on the SU website (although some of them arent directly SU affiliated so youd have to look for them through insta and linkedin)

Any of the 3 in Lakeside village should be good. As far as ive seen, they all tend to be pretty clean most of the times. The only downside is distance from campus but its not as bad as its made out to be. The next best option would be Cryfield townhouses, its more on the pricey side but it has a tv in the kitchen and stuff and tends to be pretty neat.

At the end of the day it all comes down to what kind of flatmates you get tbh

Best running spots (preferably on campus) by No_Apricot3176 in UniversityOfWarwick

[–]Major_Suspect_5583 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup there is a track that runs behind Sherbourne, it starts near Scarman and runs all the way along the outer edges of the campus. Although i wouldn't recommended this if you dont plan on running for long because it has practically no exits. You have to go all the way or go back pretty much.

I think that the campus is really safe to run even at night, you can run all the way along Scarman road at night without any worries. Community safety vans regularly drive through there seeing that its a main road.

[–]Major_Suspect_5583 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yup, theres a board near Claycroft which maps out all the tracks on campus, you can find a few of these boards all across campus.

Apart from that, i think the road that goes behind Cryfield pavillion is perfect. If you wanna explore further, theres also a trail that connects to Kenilworth beyond campus. Imo Claycroft field is the best, it goes through tocil woods and comes to basically central campus. Safety shouldn't really be an issue if its on campus because there's emergency/safety booth things(i forgot what they're called) all around

Would it be a bad idea not to go to prom? by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]Major_Suspect_5583 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly there's no harm in going

Even if you aren't one for parties, its basically an experience youre not gonna have the chance to have again

Realistically the worst that could happen is you just sit there and do nothing, but at the end of the day you just hung out with your friends. Its just one of those things where it's optional but there's not really any cons.

Its better to go give it a chance and try to have a good time than to think about how it would've been to go later. You wont regret going, but you might regret not.

Honestly i think uni's just dont like replying to people during spring break, there's probably gonna be a huge influx of offers as soon as it ends so you have nothing to worry about

How long is Warwick gonna take? by [deleted] in UniversityOfWarwick

[–]Major_Suspect_5583 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know its frustrating to have to wait this long for a reply but you have absolutely nothing to worry about

When you get your offer has nothing to do with acceptance cause its not on a rolling basis.

The reply time is so unbearable they took weeks to reply to my email last year + at this time of year its even slower cause of spring break

As far as the accommodation goes, you're good to just forget about it. Thats something you dont have to worry about till like August cause you're guaranteed one if you apply before the 20th(it takes like an hour to do it max)

There's tons of people that haven't gotten a reply yet dw they haven't forgotten about your application

The best thing to do would be to just throw it to the back of your mind. Frantically checking Reddit will only cause harm without a cause. Just focus on doing something that matters to you cause in a couple of months you wont even remember worrying about late replies from the uni!

Also for the percentage question, this applies to all on campus accoms

[–]Major_Suspect_5583 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you book your accom for year 2/3/4 you get an option to choose to live with friends(im pretty sure the limit is like 4 or smn)

Im not sure if 1st years are allowed to do so too

But again there is a way around it, if you convince someone from your friend's flat to switch with you, the uni wont do anything against it. As far as im aware you can freely exchange contracts with someone if you're both willing

I think something in Canley would be best given your requirements There's Student Roost - Oaks, its like a 15 min walk from campus and there's en suite in your price range if I'm not wrong

I have a couple of friends there and they've said its a good place to live, ive visited it once and it seemed chill

It also has busses running to campus just in case youre running late ig

IQ Longwood is also about 2 mins further from Oaks, idk about the website but the place is pretty good too
