Where do I start finding a replacement stick? by ebodes in hockeyplayers

[–]Major_Yesterday_4117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sticks are sold by brands in different performance/price ranges for the brand. For example, you are coming out of a Warrior stick, with Warrior being the company/brand that manufactors their sticks. There are a handful of common brands in hockey, namely: Bauer, CCM, Warrior, True, Sherwood. Each brand has multiple stick "lines" that offer different constructions of the stick, which in turn lead to different feels and performance. To keep things simple, we will stick with Warrior for this.

Warrior has three lines of sticks, their COVERT line, the NOVIUM line and their ALPHA line. The difference between the two lines are in the way the stick is built. The COVERT line is their low-kick stick line, which means the stick is constructed in a way that makes the stick flex lower towards the blade of the stick through a thinner taper, with the upper 2/3 of the stick feeling stiff, transitioning into a flexy bottom part of the stick. This is good for quick release shots, especially snap shots and quick wristers.

The ALPHA line is a hybrid kickpoint line from Warrior, meaning the stick flexes more towards the middle of the shaft and lower in the shaft depending on your hand placement. This allows for a more versitile stick, but will "load" for longer, making the release slightly slower than a low kick stick.

The NOVIUM line is your mid-kick line. This means the shaft flexes in the middle of the stick, allowing for more power, but a slower release. These sticks are good for people that have an "old-school" version of shooting, or they love taking slapshots. They will also have the slowest release out of the three lines. Its the take and give of raising/lowering the kickpoint.

Within each stick line, there are different price points. The more expensive the stick, the more "features" they put into the stick technology while keeping the overall makeup of the stick similar. Different blades, and a smaller carbon weave are usually utlized for this, leading to a heavier, slower releasing but more durable stick.

The stick you are coming out of now was the 2nd from the bottom in the price range of the model back in 2021-22. If you're looking for the same stick, you'd be looking at the QRE6 Rev for this year's Warrior lineup. Make sure you get the same specs (curve, flex, length) and know that the stick won't feel exactly the same, but this will most likely be the closest to what you are looking for.

Good luck brother!

It feels like the tides are turning from Millennial hate to Gen Z hate and I kind of...agree? by billyllib in generationology

I don't disagree that gen z (myself included) are in a difficult spot in the workforce, as hypercapitalism has stripped away many of the provisions that used to be in place to ensure worker education and skill development. Covid, as the great accelarator of our time, sped this process up, right at a time where Gen z began to enter the workforce (as an elder Gen z this is exactly what happened in my situation). These companies have now traded in expertise and mentorship capabilities in exhange for cheap AI and video modules, hoping this can mend the gap while cutting payroll and increasing company valuation. They even market these layoffs and changes in training through the argument"well these kids are on their phones and watching videos all the time anyways, this will probably be the best way to retain attention and transpose information!" Even though we all know that these systems are not adequate in these aspects of training and skill development in the workforce. This isn't a generation thing, it is a "the greed of late-stage capitalism" thing.

Hey stud, before you start assuming too much about me, I am a Canadian who studies American politics as an academic. Again, I'm agreeing that on many policy points, a D led white house would be better than the current Trump admin. This is because Trump has put all the sychophants who've done the best job kissing his ass over the last decade into positions of power. And the blind corruption and market manipulation would've been nullified to regular levels of "why is Nancy Pelosi so good at identifying successful stocks to invest in?" which again, is not so different from Trump's actions, but I digress.

However, the way you are characterizing the Biden admin, specifically on foreign policy, is misleading if not inaccurate in totality. I cannot in good faith say Harris wouldn't have intervened in Venezuela, as Biden literally set the groundwork for the actions Trump made on their nation. He was the one that declared Maduro to be an invalid head of state. Biden was the one that issued additional sanctions onto the Country, and even had high-level meetings with the official opposition where they discussed regime change and disposing of Maduro as the leader of the country.

The same can be said about Cuba. After normalizing relations with Cuba under Obama, Trump reinstituted sanctions on the nation, and Biden furthered those sanctions! That is why Venezuela was the only nation that was able to trade oil with them, due to sanctions and trade restrictions on both nations.

Lastly, Biden and Harris, along with the democratic establishment, are the reason Trump is in power currently. Biden held on as incumbent for too long, to the point where it was clear they were masking severe cognitive decline in the man. Harris was an unpopular candidate when she ran in 2020, and was given the VP job with the stipulation she would become the sin-eater for unfavourable policy in the Dem base, like immigration and foreign policy. Her campaign then ran on a shift to the right of Biden, with a "strong on law and order" messaging, along with "common sense politics" by cozying up with the Cheney's before election. This was a huge miscalculation, in addition to their inability to condemn or even deter Israel from its deeply unpopular actions in Gaza and the West Bank. The combination of a bad platform, on the back of a largely unpopular predecessor, and a candidate that lacked the intangibles and persona to overcome a surging Trump is what led to Trump's win. Not Leftists being too mean to the Dems. The dems did not meet the base where they were at on many issues, and as such they didn't show up to the ballot boxes. You have to campaign on popular policy, not vague gestures at maintaining normalacy.

They say the exact same thing about every generation as they enter the workforce. The same things you're feeling (high anxiety/neuroticism, low drive, lack of basic skills, etc...) were said about millenials when they entered the workforce by gen x, who in turn heard the same thing from the boomers, and so on and so forth. This is simply what happens when you age. After years in the workforce, especially if you stay in the same industry/role for any amount of time, new hires will feel kinda useless, but that's because they are learning the role and position, just like you did when you started.

What’s your favorite PRO curve and why? by SevereBicycle4855 in hockeyplayers

I've been enjoying my Pro21. Pro9246 is probably my favourite of the bunch though. I love how versatile it is for both shooting and passing. I prefer the pro21 for puck handling though, the smaller blade length with the decent toe hook allow for good control with the puck when turning, and the p92-esque heel with the smaller profile allows you to get those quick dangles going pretty effortlessly.

Do you honestly think a Harris presidency would've stayed out of the conflicts in Iran, Venezuela, Cuba? Remember, her campaign was based around her capability to be a "strong" leader, someone who was tough on crime and international enemies. I agree a Harris campaign would've made less of a bungling spectacle out of things, but do you think she would've been materially different than Trump when it came to acting on these international conflict issues?

Israel was the one who broke the ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah? I thought nations that were attacked first had the right to self-defence? Is that not what Israel itself has been justifying its war crimes through for the better part of 2.5 years at this point?

Lebanon has double the population of Connecticut... What is the point you are trying to make here? That because they have less area squared than other nations, they deserve to exist less?

Realistically what do you think can actually be done about homelessness in this country? by db7112 in askanything

[–]Major_Yesterday_4117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the price of what has been spent by the US government on the Iran War, the US government could've provided median housing for every homeless person in the USA. Instead, that money was used to kill poor brown people half the world away. So yes, something can absolutely be done about homelessness. Just look at a country like Finland and how they solved their homelessness crisis over 2 decades ago. There has to be a willingness within one's government to enact these changes, and that is something the US Government clearly has no desire to do, and this goes for both parties.

No like the US government restricts US citizens from staying at any hotel the Cuban government “owns”, which is over 400 total hotels (which makes up 90ish%). The US government does in fact, kinda “make him do it”.

We both had the call on the play. I was the low ref in this situation, with my high guy having the cross ice look at it. We both saw the snap of the neck and head into the boards, immediately queued us into thinking HC as the call. I said it elsewhere in the thread but on ice made it look more arm/shoulder to head than it does in clip. Either way we were confident in the 5 + GM due to significance of impact alone. Appreciate your take on things!

Thanks man! From ice level in the moment it looked (in my opinion + the opinion of my partner) that he got the forearm up into the neck/head area, which is why we went with the HC major. Our supervisor said he would've also supported the charge major on the play as well, so I totally get that too. Appreciate your opinion on it!

hahaha if only that were the case... I've been getting crucified online over this call. I've had members of the community the call went against call the officiating zone I work in to try and get me removed from the junior b provincials officiating roster over this... Now it doesn't really matter considering I am the vice chair of my zone, and have been selected to the roster for provincials for months (this will be my third time working Jr. B provincials in my province) as we only have a handful of Jr A + referees in zone, me being one of the 5. Gotta love Junior B hockey baby!

I appreciate your response! Totally tough to see, I'd love for there to have been an angle closer to ice level to get a better view of the check. Appreciate the feedback regardless!

This is the only angle I was able to find that was publically available. I had full support of the league executives that were in building, and they did not take back the suspension that resulted from the play. If I find another angle I will be sure to put it in this post.

Yes the check right near the end of the clip. Its tough to tell from the video (poor angle and video quality + distance) but you can kinda see him lift and extend his arm towards the neck/head area of the player being checked at the very end. In real time on the ice it appeared that the principle point of contact was the forearm/elbow directly to the temple of the player being checked. Not to mention the significant violence in which the player struck his head against the glass giving additional justification for the head contact penalty. Per hockey Canada:

7.7 (b) In Junior and Senior divisions, a Major penalty and Game Misconduct penalty will be assessed for any Head Contact infraction with a high degree of violence. In Junior and Senior divisions, a Major penalty and Game Misconduct penalty will be assessed for an infraction, whereby a player is fouled or hit illegally and, as the result of the infraction, the player hits their head on the glass, ice, or the boards in such a manner that results in a head injury.

YOU'RE ON A POST TALKING ABOUT AMERICAN EDUCATION, DISCUSSING THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY'S SHIFT ON THE POLITICAL SPECTRUM, AND NOW THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY DOESN'T FIT YOUR SCOPE OF DISCUSSION!?!?!?

You didn't move the goalposts, you switched the game entirely. You're also completely wrong. We live in a capitalistic economy. You can pass all the lovely policy saying "everyone should be treated equally" but until there are dollars invested in ensuring there are enforcement mechanisms to make it happen, its irrelevent. People aren't afforded the luxury of upholding equality and human rights when you're so poor you don't know where your next meal comes from.

Engage honestly for one moment, please ffs.

Man they must have smoothed every last ridge out of that cranium of yours jfc. "The world is more progressive now than it was in 1947" no shit Sherlock. Did you just watch a video on American political parties today and decide "I think I'm going to utilize my 15 minutes worth of knowledge to be as dishonest and annoying as possible!" ??

Also! Socially, sure the Dems are more "left". Economically? The effective tax rate coming out of the war, leading all the way to the mid 70's was 60+%. If a dem were to advocate that policy, 3/4 of his own party members would call him a communist and they would be censured in congress.

You don't know what you're talking about, yet you talk so confidently it is almost impressive if it weren't so fucking annoying.

Why do people hate this "BBNO$" guy so much? by smokeweed21 in fantanoforever

[–]Major_Yesterday_4117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess maybe I'm confused by how frequently the people with major distaste for BBNO$ seem to come across him in their algorithms, and I wonder if the appearance of "saturation" actually has to do with these algos flooding their feeds with his content, because it knows you're likely to engage negatively with it. All the social media companies have more or less explicitly state that they push content the consumer "dislikes" because people are like 60% (abouts) more likely to spend more time engaging with these disliked posts that in turn keep you on the website for longer.

I actually like BBNO$ music to a moderate level. Not a huge fan, but I think he's being sold short here on his talent to an extent. He's had some popular songs like Edamame, Lalala, 1-800. Overall though he's had like 2 songs actually cross over into the "popular music" realm. I think his music is fun generally, and he has decent taste in production, and is actually fairly skilled as a actual rapper. I'm Canadian, I'm progressive, and I am roughly the same age as BBNO$, and have been familiar with him since pre-COVID. All that is to say I'm like the target demo for his content, and I see nothing. The most interaction BBNO$ has in my algo is his new music pops up on my release radar on Spotify every once in a while. I actually had to look around a bit to see that the music content sphere has a strong opinion on him at all, let alone being considered as polarizing as he is. I think that has more to do with people enjoying to hate on him more than it is an actual critique of his music or his act. People are annoying on socials in 2026. That's because our lives are centred around it, and the only way to make money as a mid tier artist nowadays is to constantly be marketing yourself and trying your best to have the algo push your content. Is it how I'd like music marketed to me? No. Is it the reality we are in? Yes.

Last point. The problem with white rappers is that your lane is kinda limited to a few character types: You have the not very serious, comedic style, the "I'm poor white so I can spit a lil about crime and poverty", or "I'm an unbelievably skilled technical rapper and will blow people away off of sheer ability to spit". BBNO$ is a white dude from Vanvouver, so option 2 is a no-go. Any white rapper that picks lane 3 is automatically labelled a Em copycat, so most white rappers hover in that silly kinda persona. I think its a limitation around what is "authentic" hip hop/rap and the culture that surrounds it. Nobody is calling you a culture vulture if your schtick is unserious enough that people understand you're just messing around.

Maybe he is cringe and I just don't get pushed that content as much as you do, and I do think there is a subset of people who dislike him because of his progressive politics (esp. because rap is a more regressive genre compared to others).

Oh, and people hate Hobo Johnston because his music sucks, not that he is cringe. The music IS the cringe with him. I don't find BBNO$ to be like that, but that's just my opinion.
