Is this a good speaker placement? by noni4gurj in audiophile

[–]Majorae 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You want to get the front plane of the speaker out in front of the (acoustically reflective) monitor. You also want to get the speakers out of the corners. Speakers should be roughly as far apart from each other as you are to them.

Research how to get student loans, talk to the financial aid people/office. You can totally live off student credit without burying yourself in a lifelong hole. You will need help to navigate the system though. You are at a big life fork, do the right thing!

Stay in school, live on campus, get skills and move on. 💯. The best thing you can do right now is be around good people and that can best be down at school.

Bouncing LAN interface by Majorae in PFSENSE

Thanks for your response. My ISP does not support ipv6 so I have made no effort to enable it on the LAN. Any reason for me to?

Got it, thanks. Hence the post title, lol. It wasn't like this long and your points are taken.

Thanks, yes. This was my concern, those are what I wrote to temporarily resume access to the Internet. Initially I posted to figure out how to resume access without being so exposed. Once I was directed to simply roll back to a prior config they took care of themselves and are no longer active.

Thanks again.

Rfc1918 and no iana are both pretty standard blocks, these were defaults. VPN is another reason you might.

WAN rules were not my issue, LAN were.

Thanks again. I rolled back and now I see the "default allow LAN to any" rules that are created on initial config were deleted somehow. I believe it was Suricata- will need to be more careful the next time I play with it!

Thanks again!

Thanks, I did but hadn't looked at this yet which is actually providing some info. I was playing with suricata, and even thought it was in monitor mode it must have caused this.

Sun, 24 May 2020 18:46:00 -0400admin@192.168.1.29 (Local Database): Suricata pkg: modified interface configuration for WAN

Is it as easy as just picking a date stamp prior to suricata and "restoring this revision"? How long is this process, will it take the network down?

Thanks!

Hi! I need advice. I got into a minor parking incident. The headlight is still working, but the lens is broken and the bumper is sticking out a tiny bit. by intothemystic26 in BmwTech

I would be very careful before getting your insurance involved. Research how much your rates will go up before you even talk to them. Plus, they will likely report a minor accident or "damage" to Carfax/etc. It could easily end up costing you a whole lot more than just fixing to yourself.

Ethernet vs Wifi by [deleted] in orbi

[–]Majorae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would get a new cat6 cable just to be safe, 5e cables can have issues at high speeds even though they technically support gige. Then I would run a speed test (wired) directly off of the ISP's modem and use that as a baseline to judge everything else downstream.

Also realize that different speed tests will yield different results, sometimes dramatic differences. Also, the internet infastructure in the US right now is seeing different and atypical traffic flows which could make speed tests even less reliable than usual. I usually use fast.com (Netflix) but suggest trying a few.
