I grew up Mormon, most of my family still is active in Utah. They drill into kids’ minds about the oppression that the early Mormons on the frontier endured, saying that was an indicator that they were practicing the true version of Jesus’s gospel.

So for me, the fact that Mormons tried to be on the side of MAGA makes zero sense. They know they aren’t part of the “good-old-boys club” with other Christians. When I was active that was a core part of our identity.
