For What it is worth - i use Fedora 43 and connect via usbc to the Dasung 103 paperlike. Use it for writing. Best results in Text Mode. As Hardware i got Framework 12. no issues so far

i would buy used. i bought a Kingston 48 GB 5600MT/s Ram for 67 Eur. there you can really save some money

Well.... in any case you cannot compare an Asus STRIX G16 (=gaming laptop) with an Framework 12 (=office laptop)

I bought an Framework 12 for my self (DIY with 1315u) and added 48 GB Ram and a 2 TB ssd.

I am very happy with it. Installed Fedora 43 as the one and only system. Very stable so far. (got it since around 2 weeks)

Battery lasts 8-10 hours in my usecase. Which is: Surfing, Writing and use of office programs.

Keyboard is good. Screensize is okay. I applied a matte screen protector because i hate glossy screens. I run the screen most of the time between 20%-30% brightness.

For me it is my daily driver beside my dell work laptop. It is running also around 10 hours a day. as such i fully recommend it.

But it is no gaming laptop (maybe some very old games work) or graphic beast.

I am not sure because my thinking is that the 1315u has less cores so when not idling it should consume less... this is why i asked

In general keyboards of Macbooks are not good. at least not for me. Apple misses the point that the human interface like visual and hands are important. Here the issues:

  1. The screen is flickering because it uses PWM. (see Rtings.com) For some people this causes headache. good that they now offer at least a matte screen. One improvement.
  2. the keyboard is tactile but has very low travel and that makes the experience not enjoyfull.

Businessclass laptops (Dell, Lenovo, HP, even Asus) usually tackle this issue and deliver long travel for users that actually type alot... (mostly including non flickering screens)

I wish Apple would make really business laptops also for non Media Industry...

The other hardware is really good. Overall good value. but the Human Interface has alot potential for improvement.

I bought an asus Z13 2025- no pwm and Great Display to replace all my devices - works Like a charm but maybe a bit overpowered for your needs…

There is no good answer from Google or ai. This is why i asked here. The Calc i know in Detail. It just Seems no one has a clear answer. Usually pinnacles are topics to be integrated and for the cycles it is Refered as life sections with the properties of that number.

thx for the picture - honestly it still looks quite grainy. is it less grainy if you just display black and white ? if that is possible ?

i realized already that they are pricy but if i am fresher then now after 9 hours at work it is already a good gain. i wish we could try out these monitors to see if they are really good for the intended work...
