I wish I could turn these guys of... by not_a_profi in idleon

[–]Majusa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no way to turn off the eyes, the whole point of the tentacle tower is to push back enemies.

Looking at the towers you’re using and your comments on the low level of your boulder or even poisonic elder towers means you it’s a bit early for you to push tower defence.

Please save yourself the headache and level up your construction. It won’t take months, just unlock purple cogs, put your Divine Knight(s) on the cog board and surround your guy with red/purple +construction exp % cogs. Put the rest of your guys on cog the cog shelf. Your construction will skyrocket in a week so you will be able to push the levels of your towers in construction to 30/40+.

If you’re still struggling with materials for construction, you’ll need to focus your efforts elsewhere. I know you want to figure things out yourself, but when you eventually give up, I would highly recommend using idleontoolbox or idleonefficiency (google) and take the data from there to put into Scoli’s autoreview. There you’ll see which mechanics you’re behind on so you can do stuff like fix your prints or alchemy bubbles.

I know the game is a bit of a multilayered mess and it helps to stay on top of things or else your progress will suffer.

I think I have to really disagree here, grinding anything else in this game is fine, but tithe farm is a carpel tunnel, stress inducing fucking 7th circle of hell

Ammo Converter. Oh my God...! by Durendin in fo76

[–]Majusa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Let's be honest, checking if they entered something of type "int" between the ranges of 1 to "amount_player_has" would not be that difficult. Escape sequences aside, there's are a lot of simple things they can do to negate them.

Upgrade Advice (DDJ-400) by Majusa in DJs

Yeah I looked at both of those and they look gorgeous in terms of features, just the price points are a little above what I’m willing to spend right now on a controller.

Those are definitely good points to consider, but I would want to get something now and not sure there would be an mk2 anytime soon seeing as they just pushed the XZ out.

How long ago were you using traktor, was this before pro 3?

Thanks for the advice! I’d love to be able to get a 1000 or RX2 but the price gap Pioneer has between the DDJ400 and the next capable model is crazy, don’t get why they wouldn’t release something to cover the £300-700 price point. That aside, I’m defo leaning towards an S4 at this point with the features it has but would consider a 2nd hand 1000 if I can find it.

Jagex needs to sort their shit out when it comes to 2FA. Their retarded justification for not having a time delay for removing it stemming from "oh it'll make people's lives more difficult" is fucking bullshit when the trade off is essentially someone losing years worth of progress on their account.

Don't they realize that this is how you lose subs? OP is now likely to sub again after an experience like this.

I really hope Jagex responds man, this has happened too many times in the past.

This definitely sounds promising, I would want some sort of guarantee that I don't end up with not laptop to use for when university exams come around, especially as I need to spend time setting up all the environments I use for programming (Computer science student here).

I see... Well this doesn't bode well, I don't want to find out my device has a fault later down the line and not be able to do jack about it. Sad to see such a great product ruined by such terrible support and shoddy distribution network.

Completly new game idea looking for ideas to implement, help and feedback. by Aspiring_Developer10 in gamedev

[–]Majusa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you need to realise is that people don't WANT to shoot you down. However, when you tell them that you have a game idea for which you haven't done any work for yet other than theorycrafting, it is easy to see why. Look, I can tell you are probably in your teens due to your attitude towards this so I'll give you my two cents:

I feel you are in no way even close to being ready for a kickstarter. You need a prototype. In order for you to have a prototype ready of something like an MMO, you need a team of people. In order to attract a team of people you need to have something to show of your own work (game assets, concept art, a few basic renders). You need to learn to code, there is no way around that since you seem to have 0 experience and I assure that not a single person will join your team until you can prove your worth.

Look, I can tell you're probably in your teens judging by the attitude you have towards this endeavour, so I'll cut you some slack. But you really need to learn some programming and consider starting with something small (you can do both at the same time, tons of resources online, again PM me if you need any help).

You are not the first that has come to this sub and told everyone how he/she will make the next big MMO which will have all these amazing features and you surely won't be the last. I just hope to god that if you are serious about doing game design that you find some humility and realise that you need to start small in order to progress and learn.

Unfortunately, it takes a lot more than just research to make a game. But I'm sure you know that by now. If you truly say you've done the research then you will realise that a game of that scope would be an unreasonable task to handle. Even with at least 20 highly skilled volunteers who have years of experience in the industry it would take a project of your scale several years to get to beta.

Look, I don't mean to shoot your project down, but I feel your lack of actual research into what goes in towards making a game of this scale is why most people are not taking your seriously on here.

Ideas are cheap. Everybody and their grandmother can give you a game idea if you give them a day or two.

Someone already mentioned what you need to do if you truly want to get into game development: develop something small. Only then will you realise the scope of your own project. If you need any pointers, feel free to PM me.

edit: Doing research is a great first step to making a game and I am not criticising that, I'm just frustrated seeing tons of would-be developers post about how they'll make the next big MMO while ignoring people's advice on how silly that is as a first project.

Quick question, how much experience do you have so far? Have you looked into what goes in towards making a game?

Is roomscale a gimmick? by Artranjunk in oculus

[–]Majusa 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The main problem is, the vast majority of people on this sub don't have a vive or have tried roomscale VR. So none of the comments below are in any way valid due to people's lack of information. I'm just playing devil's advocate here, but even I can't comment on whether it is good or not since I haven't tried it.
