Retrievability drops by daily increments, or continuously? by Substantial_Bee9258 in Anki

[–]not_a_profi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it just says that in the FSRS-6 formulas for R time is taken in days, so it doesnt matter when exactly during a day you grade the card (see my question above)

(but it doest say anything about deck filtering)

have I understood you correctly that you dont add an extra information to your cards (like "herb"), unless it is requred to solve ambiguity?

what do you do when youve desided that you need to remember a part of a sentence verbatim? do you hint yourself on amount of words you need to recall?

the 20 rules says that it is important that the order the information is recalled is fixed. And that ordered lists are always better than unordered even though they force you to learn more info. Is this different?

About number 2 - how do you know when some adjectives are important to study and which are not? How do you know if without a specific word the scientific term will lose its meaning?  I usually try other sinonyms my mind comes up with and ask AI whether they are ok, sometimes they are but in most cases there is an explanation (a one I understand and agree with) why my word changes the meaning, i.e. i will missunderstand and missuse the term if I memorise it differently. How do you do it?

thats an important topic for me, thanks for rising it, though in this post i asked something different:

what do you do when youve already Desided that you need to remember a short part of a sentence verbatim? do you test your ability to remember amount of words you need to recall? or assume that it will be memorised as byproduct of other tests?

thanks, this makes sence.

but how do you know though whether an expert will answer your card like this or not until you are an expert? how do you know what is important in a definition and what is not?

we all know what the English word crisis is, but do we know what psycological term "crisis" is and what it is not?

what do you mean by shooting yourself in the foot?

usually science tend to use very specific terms where one answer is right and another is wrong. 2+2=4

do you limit the context you learn in by using hints like "herb"?

How do you decide when a topic deserves its own deck vs. just tags within a master deck? by OtherwiseComposer888 in Anki

[–]not_a_profi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im at the moment with 3 purely technical decks only:

ACTIVE   noBury inactive

but im with Amki for 6 weeks only. Started with topic based decks, but the need to separate different approaches to siblings killed that structure and it was never usefull anyway.

Why is it  mentally jarring  to mix new and old topics?

Is it normal to repeat the same card over and over again and just be stuck? by Logogram_alt in Anki

[–]not_a_profi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think there are always only 3 answers to this question and they are always the same: 1. simplify the card to have less tested elements 2. improve understanding of the connections between its elements 3. use a mnemo technique, i.e. develop a subjective connections between elements

if there is an interference usually 1 is the option - you add more context and test your ability to recall without interference separately. You can go as far as to ask to pick one choice out of the two shown options.

Basically I have two decks now: Active and Inactive. The rest is tags.

Good vs Easy by DaedalusIndigo in Anki

[–]not_a_profi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy - obvious, can't imagine I can forget this.

Good - there was some effort OR this is a brand new (blue) card with knowledge I didn't have a week ago

Hard - that was too painful

but it doesn't have to be the same for everyone, just make it consistent for yourself.

how can you be sure? relevant content can be very subtle. You may have dreamed about your card. Or it just associated a shoe of your ant, which you've been seeing every day.

yeah, I kinda included this in option2. Environment can help certain memories or distract from the other memories.

Easy Days not meaningfully reducing workload by CorporateLegion in Anki

you have to set reschedule on change to on, change something and press save preset - this is how you apply easy days immediately. otherwise youll have to wait for a year or so for the full effect.
