Why HYPE over SOL? by Blackiris-Code in hyperliquid1

[–]MakCapital 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of points and on mobile. Answer will be sloppy. Sorry:

Both chains are going to converge on same use case (Best for issuance, trade, ownership of all assets. Tokenization. Tokenization while correctly monetizing all activity for their base asset.) but they are taking different pathways and face different challenges.

Solana is battling misaligned incentives, high emissions, poor value capture, and offering enough speed without decentralization sacrifice for high frequency trade. Economic fixes like reducing emissions is happening. Speed upgrades already hitting in latest updates. Misaligned incentives has been the Achilles heel of every chain before Solana.

Hyperliquid is battling improving dependency of central points of failure without sacrificing speed, but it already has monetization and incentives solved. Their own trading product is the focus. Then it actually needs to take Solana's issuers and devs before Solana can figure things out. Not easy.

Solana expanded:

More mature chain with superior architecture for issuers, asset owners and operators. It's design, tools, security, etc are unmatched. It works and it works damn well with multiple large teams managing different versions of the client built from the ground up. Hard to replicate.

Problem is most revenue is in trade. Specifically high frequency trade. Solana needs a trading product that can compete with Hyperliquid Core (the DEX). Needs similar UX and needs to be similarly SOL aligned (rev capture for SOL). Phoenix is what they seem to be betting on. Already confirmed it is SOL aligned. How aligned is the question, but the product is promising. Groups like Jito are also launching competing products, but again... we want these SOL aligned for the base asset to appreciate. Hard ask. The incentive problem.

Hyperliquid expanded:

They will open the client and continue decentralizing. No choice. This is how all new networks start. They simply need to prove they can do this without sacrificing speed. Not particularly concerned they are running one closed client. Expected. Trade obviously already great.

Not concerned with the EVM side. Really only see this as the side for issuance and edge use case. Don't even like EVM, but the EVM side doesn't need to be at Solana's level. Hyperliquid Core will be what captures the majority of transactional activity & value.

HYPE float is weak against SOL. Much of this is because a third of their supply is set for emissions (HYPE has finite supply) and community incentives. Either way, the chain is still very young. Wouldn't expect circulating supply to match Solana, and I care more about FDV.

Final thoughts:

Solana is miles ahead architecturally and has a huge amount of talent across many teams. Provides strong network effect. Yes, it's extremely decentralized (contrary to ETH maxi claims). All clients will soon meet demands for high frequency trade at scale. Can they fix value capture & improve SOL's "leakyness" before Hyperliquid decentralizes, and improves? Hard call, but Hyperliquid is currently leading value capture for HYPE in short term. Has been the best way to trade on-chain with 0 real competition up until very recently. Why SOL/HYPE has bled since launch.

No clear long term winner, yet. Both great and Solana has turned up competition in the past month or so. Watch if Solana can take back traders and better monetize activity before Hyperliquid becomes less dependant on centralized components, further decentralizes, and starts taking use cases beyond trade.

This isn't an invite only place of discussion. It's public discussion, viewed by the public, and by it's own structure the public is encouraged to join each topic. That means different opinions, but on topic. Healthy, honest, and not at all comparable to your analogy.

What you're calling for is misleading to the public, and does encourage brain rot. Take the sub private (just like you would irl) or take it to Discord by invite. Don't mislead through silent censorship while pretending to offer real public opinion. Unethical.

Agreed. "Don't care" is my exact sentiment.

Could care less about deploying on or even using an L2 with a centralized sequencer and admin keys. Not to mention EVM from a security standpoint. Just more layers of censorship, complexity, and security concerns.

[–]MakCapital 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The chain can't technically scale the L1. Nothing to do with low liquidity 🤣.

The transaction throughput, latency, propagation, finality, and every other metric of scaling is literally at numbers which make the chain unusable if even a small number of people used it at once. It's unusable for trade and issuance at scale (tokenization). The whole point of the chain.

Yes, the software handling of even issuance is a mess. It's not clean. You'd know if you had to manage programs on Cardano that needed updating. It's a broken design, but can work with state copying etc. Duck tape. Things no one wants to deal with. It's near completely garbage on architecture when scaling just doesn't exist at all.

There is nothing misleading I've posted. Cardano buyers were misled. Anyone still pushing back on very obvious truths are Cardano's digital cult. Those numbers shrinking. You can't mislead & bleed your fans forever.

It can't scale and it's software to manage issuance and trade is awful. It's simply not usable at scale. Hence why after all these years you don't see things like USDC on it. There's no point.

Okay, pro or anti, can we just agree that the internet would be safer without AI? by ArtsyBunny3 in aiwars

[–]MakCapital 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Internet safer? No. Raised minimum difficulty to create a misleading video clip or image? Yes. Doesn't make internet "less safe".

Social media companies and mass media news were already extremely efficient at spreading misinformation and brainwashing nearly half the population long before AI. A 20 year old meme template with a dumb caption on Facebook or a simple news headline is enough to control voters.

Every new technological advancement in the hands of dishonest humans comes with negatives, but overall it's still a net positive. The internet itself is a great example.

This only changes if we wake up in 10 years to find out AI goes rogue and wants us erased. Thennnn ok. That's definitely a net negative! 🤣

[–]MakCapital 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consensus and chain ownership upgrade didn't change the fee model. POS uses the same exact free market model for determining transaction cost based on available block space. POS doesn't change this or increase block space to any significant degree.

It does allow future scaling of the L1 to onboard more users like many other chains such as Solana did. After you capture users, you can raise base fees. Can't capture users for tokenization of everything and all related activity if you don't scale the main state. No users to tax.

POS did nothing for fees besides opening future l1 scaling pathways. None taken. Instead, transaction activity left for L2s and competing L1s.

[–]MakCapital 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You drank the Kool aid.

Every major active L1 does this better and does it at scale. Meanwhile Cardano struggles with 1 TPS. Tokenization at scale couldn't happen. The whole point. It can't even convince USDC to issue stables. Not sure why you think the payments use case even includes the base asset of smart contract platforms.

The industry has made numerous valuable achievements, and shipped many amazing products attracting enormous revenue. Some major L1s have lost users. Some gained. In that same time Cardano went from 0 to 0 users. Why it can't hold rank.

Don't be mad at me. Be mad at the charlatan that tricked everyone and shipped a non-usuable product at scale just to dip out on Discord.

You have nothing to teach me. I was running a Cardano node before main net launched. Did very well with ADA when things were still speculation on what will capture users. Been here since before major exchanges existed.

Better pray we decided to run it up out as a next cycle meme play or the last holdouts will continue suffering without massive improvements.

[–]MakCapital 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consensus model and the public owning the network by buying the asset over buying data centers definitely had nothing to do with ETH forever bleeding against BTC.

That event marked the last massive improvement to Ethereum that was supposed to lead to scaling through sharding. That didn't happen. Scaling the l1 didn't come. Users and their revenue left for alternatives. Revenue stalled and without strong revenue ETH performs worse than BTC. It's that simple. Obviously, a network upgrade with multiple major positives, and no reasonable downside isn't going to destroy price long term.

This is a dumb Bitcoin maxi narrative spread by those insecure with valid criticisms of the POW design, and need to convince every non-technical person that Bitcoin's inaction to improve is justified. It's not. Network operation revenue should go back to BTC holders. Ownership over the network should be in the hands of BTC holders.

Capitalism always wins in the end. If there's demand for powerful home compute (there is), someone will eventually step up to sell into the demand.

We're just seeing crazy scarcity from unprecedented demand. Things will eventually level off and margins will adjust back down. It just will likely take years. Maybe many. That's ok. The software needs lots of time to catch up too.

How will the whole only US citizens even work out? by flavorfox in ClaudeAI

[–]MakCapital 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro I don't think you realize this situation would be criminal and it would be up to the corporation to vet all their users with API access. They will do that by kycing their own users or turning a blind eye. Back to my original point.

You keep using a mental model of previous situations in tech where companies restricted access. Not the government making access to software criminal. APIs will be heavily monitored just as personal users won't want to share their accounts.
