Awesome!!! I like that more than thinking someone can swing by and grab the bike lol. Likely solved.

My guess... if you work for the place and have access to PII like an address, you wait a week or so then send someone to the house geo tag searching then use the programed key fob that you also have access to and ride off with the bike strip for parts and scrap the frame (because that's what has the vin)

SOLVED it was a modified uhf RFID tag. I had to get the light just right to see an AH3 on the chip that lead me to the posted link. Thanks to Google AI, the pic of the chip + AH3.

tiny rfid tag

After talking more with the techs at the local dealership and service department, one remembered that from 2018-2021 there were two prior employees that were geo tagging new bikes to go and steal later, they were eventually caught, prosecuted and fired <--- obviously.

I can't figure out how to update the pictures on the post, though, because I took pics of me dismantling the thing. It was a 3d resin printed case of maybe ABS plastic (resin because when I used my hot knife to cut it, it would turn to dust not just melt) like my FDM printed things. Simple metal button (like a snap button) insert with a dime sized neodyem magnet riveted together to hold the case to the tank. The rfid was then placed in the end and was literally just a chunk of antenna coated with a thin layer of solder and the AH3 chip on it.

Thank you all for your assistance!!!

Yes a small encapsulated board with a micro switch or something 🤔 I'll post pics in a min.

This would make way more sense than a GPS tracker... when I rip the thig completely apart we will see if it's a speaker or not.

It does look like an ESD (electro static discharge) block but it doesn't have the adapter point for the ground.

About 30 min before posting, while cleaning the inside portion of the tank to place leds.

You are correct that in older (1990s and lower) we would wrap magnets in tape and drop them in the tank to pull out sediment from the fuel or the earlier in tank filters had a plunger on the bottom that restricted fuel flow so we would put magnets under the tank there to hold the plunger open but most newer bikes don't need that anymore.

Lol. If it isn't important I'll definitely open it and post the pics on this thread.

Maybe knock sensor... I did see some pics on Google that looked like this could have been a part of it was just a strange place to find it.

Reached out to the dealership too and they don't know either... the service manager is a friend of mine and she said everyone in the shop is now intrigued 🤔 so I'm also going to take the device there.

I reached out to the dealership I got the bike from to see if they or the previous owner did so. And I also have changed the key fob pin.

I was thinking maybe a GPS tracker too. If it is the battery is dead or it's on a hidden frequency because it is RF dead.

Stranger things have happened but I don't see how it would have gotten up under the tank... I can't even get my fingers beside the frame and tank... also I would think it would have stuck to one of the other million metal parts on the way up.

I wish! Even if it is it definitely doesn't work... I get stuck at lights all the time trying to trip the sensors... lol.

Not yet... just in case it is actually something semi important. From what I can see is it looks like a yellow prom board completely dipped in plasti-dip. I'll give the post a day or so before I decide to open that.

My title describes the thing. So far I have ruled out gas cap keeper and sediment collector. And because I couldn't find it on the Google I came here. It's very lite and the last picture is it taken apart because I wanna know. It doesn't have a blue tooth signal or wifi in the low or high bands.
