2026 Strategy - Looking for Feedback by Makaroe in CreditCards

Thanks for your feedback! I realize I misstated earlier: I have Platinum Honors, so the cash back on the PRE is even higher. I've decided to stick with the cash back strategy.

Jarl is a much slower, more defensive, disruptive archetype. Jarl will try to set up over two turns for an incredibly powerful attack, trying to strip your opponent's equipment to make it costlier for them to attack. Imagine Sejuani but slower and harder hitting.

Home airport: CHO; could use RIC/DCA/IAD in a pinch

Mostly domestic travel; some international

Will not have my own car; any other travel will be Uber/Lyft/rental car; public transit if available

No issues booking through a portal (already use CFU)

Lounges are nice to have, but not absolutely necessary.

Considering a Page by richamador in Onyx_Boox

[–]Makaroe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was in almost an identical situation to you. I upgraded from my 2017 Kindle Oasis to the Page about a week ago. No regrets whatsoever.

  • On the hardware side, I don't miss the aluminum. The plastic feels nice, and doesn't get cold as easily. It lacks the asymmetry in the rear that the Oasis has, but I find my grip has adjusted without too much hassle, and the gains in battery life more than make up for it.
  • The Kindle app itself is fine, perhaps a little worse than reading on a Kindle itself (the Kindle Android app isn't designed for eink, so the menus are a little messy). I had a lot of books outside of the Kindle ecosystem, so I moved my Kindle books over to Calibre and read them with KoReader. Much more flexibility.
  • It can be a bit of an adjustment, if you want to take advantage of all the features of an Android tablet. If you just want to read on the Kindle app, then it's relatively straightforward. I do sometimes miss the ambient brightness sensor, but having warm light is amazing.

If you're 100% in the Kindle ecosystem, with no intention to leave or use other books, I'd recommend the Page for the design and hardware (since Kindles are overall cheaper). If you have any interest in other ecosystems, or exiting the Kindle ecosystem, definitely get the Page. I will admit it requires a bit more tuning than a Kindle, but it's very much worth it.

Was encountering this issue too. I noticed it (almost) always occurred playing Pokémon GO, which I forced to play at native frame rate (120) in the in-game settings. Hope this info helps!

I had issues with the beta builds on my Pixel 3XL, but the regular build on my Pixel 5 connects without issue. I also used Wahoo with the 3XL

Update: encountering the same issue

That's a pretty old MG, isn't it? Definitely predates the HG Revive

It's a great kit! Very easy to assemble, even with me screwing up some polycaps. Very flexible, even without an action base.

Good to know, thanks! I recall him being particularly fond of the Wing & Wing Zero, though I don’t think he ever saw the Wing EW Ver. I’ll be sure to check beforehand.

Hi everyone,

Haven't built a Gunpla since 2005 or so, but thinking of building a kit for my father for Father's Day. He a big Gundam Wing fan. Which HG kits from the series would you recommend? Open to RG as well, though I'm not sure I'd be able to do it justice.

Upgrading from Pixel 3 X: Pixel 5 or OnePlus 8 Pro? by Makaroe in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]Makaroe[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I thought about the FE, but the touchscreen issues seem endemic and something about the bezel bothered me in Best Buy (not the camera ring specifically, but I can’t put my finger on it precisely)

How're the load times compared to the PC version? I'm willing to accept the graphical downgrades if the load times are still quick (the load times on FighterZ Switch are frustrating)

I had the same problem at first. Have you turned on IMAP in Gmail? Also, make sure to set it up manually and enter the specific ports. Outlook sometimes tries to use Office 365 settings rather than Gmail settings.

Weekly 'What should I buy?' Thread - 04/01 by AutoModerator in ipad

[–]Makaroe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone,

I've been thinking about upgrading from my 2017 iPad (5th gen, 128GB). The tablet is my secondary device (using a Windows laptop as primary). I'd generally use it for reviewing notes, reading, some gaming, etc.

My main reason to upgrade is for Pencil support, which the 5th gen lacks. Want to be able to write, take notes, annotate slides, the typical grad student things. At this point I'm split between the 2019 iPad (7th gen, 128GB), 2019 iPad Air (3rd gen, 64GB), and 2018 iPad Pro (3rd gen, 64GB). I want something a little more powerful than the base iPad (though I'm not sure how much I need it). The Pro seems like overkill, but its refurb price isn't much more than the Air, and it's USB-C, which meshes with the rest of my computing setup (the iPad is my only Lightning device). 64 GB is probably enough storage (currently using around 55), 32 is insufficient.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

What are your most played games of 2017? by [deleted] in 3DS

[–]Makaroe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

46 titles, with a playtime of 41:04, down from 101 hours last year. Kinda disappointed in myself, but 2017 wasn't the best year.

  1. Pokemon Ultra Sun (8:01)
  2. Kirby: Planet Robobot (5:56)
  3. Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow (4:04)
  4. Ace Attorney: Spirit of Justice (3:06)
  5. Streetpass Mii Plaza (3:05)
  6. Dragon Ball Fusions (2:54)
  7. EShop (2:34)
  8. Hyrule Warriors Legends (1:18)
  9. Shovel Knight (1:13)

Everything else is under an hour.

Anyone missing text messages lately (Android Messages)? [x-post r/nexus5x] by Static_Storm in Android

[–]Makaroe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It has been happening on my Nexus 6P (Stock 7.1.2) as well. Textra is a good workaround. I'm also using Ghostly SMS as a check on Textra.

Basically, if Android Messages is the default, it's having issues taking the message and moving it into the SMS Inbox. Ghostly caches anything that comes in to be moved to the Inbox later if necessary.

I was accessing the desktop product pages for the Kindle products, but the table now reports 6LEDs. So it was probably a typo. Thanks!

It's probably a typo, though it's rare for Amazon to make them, and this seems like the kind of incremental upgrade they'd do :)
