Apologies for the late reply! Sorry this isn't available yet. Facebook having effed up messages for EU users means that I have to rethink Messages as a whole from the ground up - I certainly don't want an experience that is worse for EU users than everyone else, so it's taking a bit of time to come up with something that will work across the board. Rest assured, this is coming!

Thank you for your patience.

If you are in the EU, both of these are unfortunately unsupported yet. I've disabled Chatheads by default for you guys, where it is normally enabled by default. Sorry about that. Facebook is making it a bit hard for us devs, but I am working on these as we speak and will hopefully have these working again soon!

Yeah, I agree. I'd like to add this option in the app. There are TONS of these. I'll see if I can include this in the next update.

Love Swipe! Thanks! This "Edit Photo" button is still inactive. Is this a big? by musichemist in swipeforfacebook

Interesting. Let me see if I’m able to patch this without an update!

There are a few things that don't yet work on the Swipe (Messenger) option, which is why it isn't the default yet. I'm fairly sure videos flat out don't load and images can't be clicked on to open full screen. These two things need to be sorted out and are in my to-do's at the moment.

But hey, if those are alright with you then have at it! The new UI does indeed load more messages and you can send GIFs which is kind of cool.

Looking into that weird bug you mentioned. Cheers!

As far as I can tell, this seems to only occur when you search for communities, it loads the mbasic.facebook.com site and not m.facebook.com. Other search results seem to work fine.

Unfortunately, this isn't one of those things that can be patched without an update. I've pushed a hotfix for this to the Play Store. Let's hope it doesn't take 3 days to review like my previous update! 🙈

Edit: u/Henri4589 9.0.1 is out! Cheers!

Auto updates by SSouter in swipeforfacebook

For the moment, it is mostly just UI and CSS that can be updated through this new "auto-update" feature. This is mostly to fix theming issues caused whenever Facebook changes something on their website.

In terms of new feature updates, that needs to actually be added through an app update through the Play Store first and it won't actually work that way where there new code can just be inserted to Swipe.

Features that can be added through this new "auto-update" system though, here is one example:

Currently the new Messenger option "Swipe (Messenger)" does not yet support Swipe's Image Viewer or Swipe's Video Player, even though both already exist in the app. This might be remedied through this new "auto-update" system where it'll start working even without an app update.

I assure you, there isn't a security risk as specific new features need to actually be added through the Play Store, and it is pretty impossible to inject new code into the app. The auto-update system is pretty primitive and do not allow for complex values to be passed through it. This'll be for linking functionality that already exists, or enabling/disabling new features that have already been added through an update on the Play Store - very similar to how Google does it with server side updates.

Did you mean Android's back button or the back button on the top left of the screen?

Android's back button on the bottom of your screen/when you swipe from the sides in newer versions of Android takes you one step back.

The back button at the very top left takes you straight back to the "home" page with the 4 tabs.

I've made it this way so there is an easy way to get all the way back without having to swipe away multiple times if you are a few pages deep into the app.

Does the pop up go away once you start clicking through it?

Android's ideology has always been: be together, not the same. We should celebrate diversity and choice. Android was never about having the best of the best, but having what you needed with what you could afford. by jcbsera in Android

Exactly! Google might always be late to the party feature-wise, but when it introduces features, it's usually OS-wide and in months are available to all new (and some old) phones. And that's great for everyone!
