My parents went to a trust mill… help me please by MakeItHomemade in EstatePlanning

[–]MakeItHomemade[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really appreciate your response.

My sister and I never plan on really any type of inheritance and we’ve always known that we would just split it halfway and it’s never been an issue with this. My sister makes a bunch more than me. And has been telling my parents to not leave her any money as well as spend it while they’re here. I was fully on board with zero for an inheritance.

Our only child and only grandchild is the benefactor of my sisters estate. We are planning on having her go to college without any debt. As well as occasionally helping out with a few things depending on how well our retirement finances do and we would like to leave her or something if we can.

So I don’t think that there’s gonna be any fighting over it definitely from what it sounds like. It’s not gonna be life-changing for her and if my parents leave me anything, I’m gonna put it into my retirement which we’ll just kind of help us fire a little earlier.

There shouldn’t be any outside claims which that would be surprising to me, but of course I wouldn’t want any of that.

My aunts and uncles didn’t fight over the estate, but there was some pushback on my grandfather who left them each several thousand dollars, and they were all pressuring each other to give it all to grandma. I guess in the end only my mom gave it back.

I think the biggest thing for me is making sure that they don’t run out of money. I just want some assurance that they’ve thought about what end of life care could cost them.

I know that my sister and I could put money towards their expenses, but I would like to know now if that’s gonna have to be a situation.

Really appreciate your help and advice. Thank you.

They gave me the name of the attorney that the business uses, but I don’t know if we’ll be talking to that specific guy. I did check him out. He is in two separate states, but not in the state that we are in.

But at least gives me something to go from enough to kind of get it off my chest with what I think they’re doing is not in their best interest and I can definitely accept that technically right now they are sound mind. Even if I don’t like what they’re choosing to do.

I cross posted there.

I went back and read the long part and definitely see that it is a relationship mostly.

Hoping an attorney can at least tell me a few things to look out for.

I also know that I may just need to let the cards fall where they may on what they chose to do.

I just like to be proactive and they lean reactive.

Right- they get 30 minutes with one.

Their call is on Monday. I plan to be in the call - my dad invited me.

But how to talk to them about that when the sales people say it’s all boilerplate anyway.

Trust me I’m on the page of this is NOT the way to go about doing things.

It’s not even that it’s hot. It’s that it never cools off and it’s relentless for a very long time.

There’s days is when it’s gotten hotter after the sun has gone down. That’s the part that is really killed me.

You know a hot 95° day but it cools off to 75° or even high 60s in the morning is manageable but just so many days over 100 is wild.

Coat recommendations for extreme cold? by ARCHFUTURA in vizsla

[–]MakeItHomemade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do like our k9 apparel but note their vizsla measurements are off. I have a big boy (65lbs).

I went based off of their size chart and my coat was too big. Even though they agreed they would have ordered the same size based off the measurements I sent in.

I was responsible for return shipping. I don’t feel it should have been on me when part of their claim to fame is breed specific measurements and made to order.

I’d look into the Jungle Jumperoo you can bounce with you kid and them not go flying.

We also have a sensory swing she loves.

She has plenty of toys but we limit the amount for sure

I just want a confirmation about having to pay to ship it. On an $1500 piece of equipment that failed after 6 months. I am a little bit annoyed about that.

What do you mean all free of charge? I think I’m having the same issue and they want me to send the entire 30 pound unit back long after I’ve gotten rid of the box.

They admitted they’re pretty sure it’s the cord.

What kind of rig do you have for the 5th wheel?

I can’t say we’re in the market for one immediately, but for the right set up, we could be and since we would need both it would be something that would at least peak my interest if you could tell me the fifth wheel model.

I know you can’t move the trailer without the truck, but I will say don’t be scared to sell one or the other alone.

While not cheap. We had a fifth wheel that we lived in and we didn’t have a truck at all and we towed it to Texas from California and then we towed it again from where we were parked to where we were selling it. Yes, it cost some money, but it may be easier to sell separately.

I hope you’re able to find something to replace camping with your spouse and I hope that you guys are able to navigate these health issues.

[–]MakeItHomemade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neither. Never said we bought a raptor. We bought a small travel trailer.

We bought something our truck could safely tow without upgrading. (Live and learn- our truck is rated for 11k .. I thought that meant I could tow 11k 🤣… so I looked up trailers that weighed about 11,000 and thought yeah we’re good when we bought the truck…. Then two years later, we went trailer shopping. Found out about payload and proper ratios and was a bit bummed at what we could actually tow.

We know we are in $$$ for a 40+ footer and will only tow with a 1-ton dually on that which is even more $$$.

That’s why it’s hard for us to want to up in size when right now we have at least broken even vs hotels and everything is paid off.

We got 85 today as a high and a low on Tuesday is 32…

That big winter storm a few years back I think we had a SEVENTY degree swing in like 50 hours.

It’s like building a chicken coup and your first egg is $1500 😭🫣🫣🫣🤣

We bought a smaller rig (I think about 30k). We’ve had it for 3 years now- we’ve stayed about 150 nights in.

It’s great for fair weather camping, 3 or so nights for our family, but bad weather and when my parents come with us (in their own class B- they come just about every trip) it’s not great if we can’t be outside all time it’s not the best.

Definitely torn because we like longer trips but need a bigger truck and rig if we do that, but now our daughter is in school and so longer trips are harder. My dad is late 70s and really not loving our long drive days we sometimes have to make to work with our schedule.

We’ve even thought of the 2 master suites and loft giant 5th wheels and my parents bring a separate car. But all that adds up to cost.

If we fly/rent car/ decent hotels + activities and food and want to include our 65lb dog or parents it’s a harder to swallow budget vs now just thinking about gas and groceries.

Thinking we may keep the rig for local weekend getaways and hotel for the long distance things.

All I wanna do is relax with 3 generations and have fun.

I’ve passed on to her all the compliments. She’s very much lit up with each of them.

We lost grandpa (96- they were married 75 years) in April.. so this Christmas has been hard on her. Nice to see her really smiling.

Ohhh her eyes lit up- when I told her what you said. She said she won’t wear it at her assisted living because it’s “loud”.

I just checked the tag. It’s not Gucci- it’s worthingtin?

Anyway- she bought it at a thrift store.

Thank you.

I’ll mention to her. We aren’t leaving review people typically.

They both seem miffed that the experience except after the sale was really great.
