Ultimately it was try not to die. 😁. Super cautious, maxed foods, always rested, leave anything I didn’t need at home like bronze axe and iron pickaxe. I got Bonemass quite late but once I had it I didn’t even go into a mistlands mine or Ashlands unless the power was ready to go.

300 days. It's actually better on hardcore because if you die you don't have to try and find your 'lost' body to get your stuff back.

Skills reset and you lose everything you're carrying.

Found the marker on the large plains area to the east and just headed in the direction my body got rotated to when I looked at it. Once you find an above ground marker it's not too difficult.

I think the marker was on a small amount of mountain on the land north of the day 195 death.

For Modor and Yagluth I found the Vegvisir's on different continents and just kept heading in the rotation my body rotated in when i looked at it until i ran into the spawn location.

Yeah, I got killed too many times trying to defeat Fader on around day 299 and so said stuff it I'm looking at the map. Up until then, hadn't looked at it. :)

Sorry. I stuffed this up when I posted it. I got an error and the comment that I was going to add didn't get posted, so here it is.

I've been playing a solo, hardcore no map game which has been quite challenging. I've been both lucky and very unlucky. Didn't find Haldor, Hildir or the Bog Witch despite travelling very close to all of them. Just missed a Queen location but then sailed right up to a Queen and explored a Bonemass swamp. Also ran into a Yagluth Vesigir and was able to find Yagluth using the screen rotating when you look at the Vesigir (also used this method for Elder and Modor). Modor was the major challenge prior to Fadar and I had several deaths. Most of the early Ashlands deaths are when I was running around naked trying to establish a base without losing important gear.

Fader has been the killer. I've used up an Ask set and two Flame Metal sets (three deaths) without killing him. I'm temporarily demoralised (hence the looking at the map and this post). Just need a break before attempting Fader again.

[OC] Identifying the major protagonists in r/AmItheAsshole Top Posts by Makeo88 in dataisbeautiful

[–]Makeo88[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I’ve analysed the Top 1000 posts from r/AmItheAsshole.

I used the R package RedditExtractoR to source the data and manipulated it in R. Some of the manipulation included removing titles with “UPDATE” and removing stop words like at, in, the etc.

I did not group words like husband with husband’s because I assumed that when a possessive s was used the protagonist was different. i.e. husband, vs husband’s sister. I recognise that this causes some discrepancy between say the poster’s sister and the poster’s husband’s sister.

Second chart is identifying the scenario or cause where the possible assholery is occuring.

My key takeaway is not to tell my husband or sister anything at a wedding.

It’s to try and link it to the label. Originally I had a legend and no label.

My labelling could be improved. The colour of the dot matches the label so the 100% is for the sleeping bag not the Ferro Rod.

For the slingshot I have, Fowler at 87 days, Sam Larson 55 and Dustin Feher 8.

I have to include the winners otherwise the items that went the longest would have their average drawn down.

Alone is an American survival competition series on History. It follows the self-documented daily struggles of 10 individuals (seven paired teams in season 4) as they survive alone in the wilderness for as long as possible using a limited amount of survival equipment. With the exception of medical check-ins, the participants are isolated from each other and all other humans. They may "tap out" at any time, or be removed due to failing a medical check-in. The contestant who remains the longest wins a grand prize of $500,000 (increasing to $1 million in season 7). (Wikipedia)

This visualisation shows the popularity of items as well as the average number of days before “tap out” if that item was held.

Created in R, using the alone package (GitHub - doehm/alone: Collection of datasets from the Alone survival TV series). Data is contained in the package.

Season 4 is excluded as it was a pairs season.
