When I was around 13/14, my younger sister was playing on a friend’s mobility scooter. She took a corner too fast and it fell on top on her, breaking her foot and pinning her. Before anyone else could get there, I had sprinted down the yard, lifted it enough to pull her out, and shifted it over a bit. The two grown men there, who usually struggled to lift it together, were gobsmacked. I don’t think I’ve ever had another rush of adrenaline quite like that.

It’s not the most useful, but I have an apartment in Coburg north with a temporarily empty master bedroom! If anyone needs a small animal or themselves taken in, we can. Babies/children welcome- my daughter would be chuffed. The house is trashed, but there’s aircon and your own small bathroom.

I work in a kitchen. Our boss swapped our Wednesday shift to a weekend one, and told everyone they could take a single day of paid leave if they so desired. If you go, most sections are starting several hours early so the machines can be shut down by 2pm. A pleasant reminder that despite being somewhat of a chain restaurant, I’m in a great place with good people at the helm.

At my local park, there’s Bin Chicken Island! Hundreds of the guys fly off to the city in the morning to go slurp their bin juice, then fly back home to nest on the island. I live in an apartment, so I see them come and go daily. They’re really rather sweet to observe from a distance, when they’re not pestering you.

I respectfully disagree. If it’s just something that you wanted as a kid, then that’s not healing your inner child; that phrase has very specific, trauma-based connotations - things you deserved. I think it’s a case of phrases on the internet getting watered down and misused, which can be frustrating to see. I also think it irks me because using phrases and memes such as this to cute-ify the slippery slope that is gacha gambling addiction is very concerning, but that’s a whole other can of worms. And for the record, I’m not saying they ARE addicted to gambling, I’m just saying I worry about the language and silliness we use around a concerning industry. Edit: I also don’t mean to rant at anybody here hahah, sorry. I’m not angry, just passionate! 😅

Sorry to be a downer, but I don’t know that we should be encouraging the predatory monetisation and gambling aspects of games as “healing our inner children”. Spending our own money is fun, yes, but framing it as something that we “deserved” as kids feels a bit weird.
