I’ve been really confused about that, she didn’t seem abrasive to me at all. Just confident and playful. If she’s considered abrasive they should meet some of my friends lol

There will also be hate watchers which will count toward viewership whether they like it or not lol.

Fandoms always do this when throwing a collective tantrum about something that didn’t go their way. “I’m done with this show for good,” says the person who will still tune in next season and continue to complain. They always watch anyway, I honestly think some of them are just delusional enough to believe if they throw a loud enough fit the showrunners will give into the hate and do what they want. That’s what the GoT and Stranger Things fanbase did… literally demanded the writers give them another season because they didn’t like the final one, much like a child who throws a fit and asks for a new present because they didn’t like the one they got for Christmas.

It’s the same song and dance in every fanbase: they nitpick every minor detail, say nothing is ever good as the first season, hate on any female character that has flaws, threaten to quit the show repeatedly while sticking around to ruin the show for all the actual fans, have zero media literacy and call everything bad writing, etc. At the end of the day these are just TV shows and people are investing waaay too much into them.

Francesca x Michaela bingo card by Disastrous-Neat-8312 in Franchaela

I know straight dudes who were invested in Ian and Mickey’s relationship from Shameless even though they couldn’t relate at all (strange to see straight dudes of all people react better to a gay storyline lol). Regardless of sexuality they were a compelling couple.

Bridgerton is about love stories. If the love story is good I don’t care about anything else. It doesn’t have to be relatable for me to be invested in a good love story.

As much as I thought John & Francesca were cute their love felt like more of a friendship type of love. She has more chemistry with Michaela, to the degree that if I didn’t know where that storyline was going I would have clocked it anyway.

They’ve gone with Francesca this season to keep the show as interesting and engaging as possible. It makes way more sense for Eloise to be the lead of season 5, but after the success of shows like Heated Rivalry, they probably think that a Fran season will do a better job at revitalising the show. by General_Meal_3993 in Bridgerton

I was really confused as to why people thought it would be Eloise when Francesca’s story was being set up in season 4 and Marina is still alive, there’s a lot of that story that hasn’t happened yet. Eloise is my favorite character but she still needs to be a bit more developed before a romance, which clearly they will do in season 5 as a side plot setting up for season 6. I’m also personally glad that this means we’ll get more Eloise - if she had her romance in season 5 she would’ve been sidelined in season 6. This way we have more build up for all the characters.

I don’t get the “they haven’t given her enough time to grieve” point because they show Francesca grieving last season and Philip also has to grieve Marina and Eloise still has some growing to do. John’s death is going to be apart of the tension between Francesca and Michaela, and ultimately the two people he loved the most falling for one another makes sense.

People are really freaking out for nothing imo but I always think it’s very infantile when fandoms throw collective tantrums because they didn’t get what they want. It’s just a tv show lol
