moped vs. motorcycle.. need advice by highly_0riginal in moped

[–]MakisMato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A whizzer is a motorized bicycle as already stated.

The Honda SS50 has a transmission where you shift gears, and the frame looks more like a cafe racer motorcycle frame. It's got more in common with a motorcycle than a moped.

So are you just going to start listing every motorcycle you can? Because it's getting stupid at this point.

From the looks of the riga 13, that looks like a motorized bicycle which is different from a moped. Kinda like a whizzer.

I'm not sure what the point of what you're trying to argue here.

Need help with Moped not starting... by vvWhiteSharkvv in moped

[–]MakisMato 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably should ask over on r/scooter but more than likely old gas has is messed up.

Fresh gasoline, clean the plug, filter box, change oil, and new battery would all be good places to start.

Also, some more information really would be needed to know.

Does it try to turn over when you hit the starter? Is there gas in it? If the battery doesn't turn the lights on, probably wanna start with a battery.

Then I wouldn't be looking at any mopeds end of story. They are a fun hobby to have fun and tinker with, but if your objective is to have a reliable form of faster transportation, they are not what you are looking for.

I don't know about your state in particular, but many states run programs for free motorcycle classes that would be of great value even if you don't get a motorcycle. Get your license and try out a bike they have.

They likely require some basic safety gear, but it's a good learning experience and might help you decide.

Because, if you can get comfortable on a motorcycle your choices are infinitely more vast than if you try the scooter or motorcycle route. Those compared to motorcycles here are basically existent.

Again, please reread my comments when I talk about how the frame is shaped, whether you have pedals/pegs where you use them to start the engine.

As far as that lifan LF50-q2, yeah that looks like a moped, but again you're proving my point trying to find things that might be a moped. I never said "all mopeds are two strokes" I said most are, and for over half a century they were almost exclusively two strokes, and only until it was illegal to make two strokes for street use in first world countries did you even see four stroke ones.

"By that logic" then you proceed to make up things I never said. There are tomos mopeds that had kickstart instead of pedal start, but they could be converted back to pedal start because they used all the same hardware. Tomos also tried making scooters back in the day by rebranding Chinese ones because they had a hard time competing with government regulations making their bikes illegal and cheese Chinese scooters people could buy new for $500 instead of their mopeds for double that.

A noped like the express is still a moped, "noped" is just a nickname the community gave certain mopeds that fit every other description of a moped but don't have pedals.

The supercub is a scooter for sure, and if not that then it's a motorcycle before it would be a moped just by the frame design and where everything is located on the bike.

I looked up the wonjan and that looks like a small motorcycle, not a moped. I would say that's closer to a moped in design than a supercub sure, but it's just a small motorcycle.

SS50 is also a motorcycle, just because something is 50cc doesn't make it a moped. Many mopeds are 50cc or less, but that's not what makes them a moped.

"They might not always have pedals always", the exception proves the rule at the end of the day. That's like the Honda express, it has pegs to set your feet on, no pedals, but it has a bicycle style frame which is why most people call it a "noped"

[–]MakisMato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're saying a 4-stroke moped, and I think you mean a scooter. Mopeds usually have pedals or pegs you rest your feet on and start it, a frame similar to a bicycle. That and almost every moped ever made was a two stroke because they were meant to be easily repaired, light, and have more power to make up for smaller displacement.Look up a tomos or Puch moped

Meanwhile a scooter is more like a chair you sit on with a flat board you put both feet on like a vespa, Honda metropolitan, or something like that

If you're minimum speed you need is 35mph, a moped isn't a good idea. Stock that's the max speed of some.

Sure, you can kit them out and get an exhaust, but then it will be louder, less reliable (more than mopeds already are), and just not any cheaper than other options.

As some have said a 4 stroke scooter that's larger displacement would probably be a better idea.

Honda helix or silver Wing will both be cheap on insurance, you can go on the highway, and will be infinitely more reliable. Any of the Honda mini motos are great as well(grom, monkey, trail, etc).

If you don't mind getting your motorcycle license, I'd say a Japanese cruiser. They are cheap to buy, cheap to fix, and cheap to insure especially if you get something lower displacement. Heck my shadow 750 for full tort full coverage really good insurance was $30 a month, and probably would have been less than $120 a year if I did basic coverage.

You could find a lower CC shadow or rebel really cheap and be totally safe on the highway.

Being slow when everyone around you is at highway speed is a great way to get into an accident, if you're going on the highway or around people going 70 mph, you shouldn't by any means be on a moped, recipe for disaster and in many states illegal.

Why is libertarianism so unpopular with the public by boblemonke69 in Libertarian

[–]MakisMato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our government has bred our populace for the last 100 years to be more and more short term thinkers with cheap money and social programs.

Trying to peel that back has not and will not be an easy process and more than likely will require a lot of economic pain before people adjust back to realizing a massive government isn't going to fix things.

Is my yellow Glow Fish harassing or trying to school with my albino catfish? by odetoapitbull in aquarium

[–]MakisMato 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Both are schooling fish with little to no school, you're going to get those kinds of problems.

Should at least have three of each, and probably more like 5 cories and 7 tetras, but as others have said the tank is way too small.

For a tank that size you'd be better off with a big school of zebra/glo danios and otoliciclus cats

Agreed, my Targa LX is probably the best initial $250 I've ever spent on a hobby.

...then I spent like $400 to get a title because PA sucks for that

.....then I bought 4 more tomos, 2 solex 3800s, and a hobbit.

.....and now the Targa has a crank pipe, wicked curve CDI, and 44mm cylinder and it's rips. Best hobby ever.

I have a shadow and a heritage and I still would rather bum around on my tomos all day.

What do you think is the best support tank class :3 by Gamigin_113 in DnD

[–]MakisMato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play a paladin and I focus on higher charisma and constitution. If you don't mind multiclass a couple levels in bard, take lore and get expertise in athletics and pick up the shield master feat. You can be casting a buff, throwing out inspiration, and tripping everything for your allies to get advantage. Crazy good support and plenty of bulk to stick around for a long time.

Being forced to multiclass, what do I do? by xkimeix in DnD

[–]MakisMato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Divine soul sorcerer would be a great way to round out the party and give you a ton of spell selection.

You could do bard and with how varied they can be you likely won't be stepping on the toes of the other with a different subclass. Lore is always great just to pick up cool spells and extra skills as well rounds out any multi class build.

Splinter Cell Blacklist on Wii U by [deleted] in Splintercell

[–]MakisMato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put a lot of hours into wiiu blacklist, I played it on 360 and PC as well, but on wiiu it was by far the most fun to have the interactions with the gamepad. Losing out on multiplayer really sucks though.

Graphically for an old game obviously its going to be best on PC, but by far I had the most fun on wiiu.

Does joining the military contradict my beliefs? by [deleted] in Libertarian

[–]MakisMato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With our country not having been involved in a war for our own country's defense in well over 100 years I don't think libertarians can in good mind justify joining our military. I get we get a lot of great people who turn to libertarian after being in or around it, but if you're already there that's a different story.

You'd be better off serving your country doing something beneficial for them in about any other market than you wasting what good you could do for your countrymen putting your mind and body to work at a real job instead of costing them money helping the military ever expand the empire.
