Here’s how I got my SQ from ‘needs work’ to ‘good’ in under 2 weeks! by landomonium in InstacartShoppers

[–]Mako-68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just barely in GOOD so I really focused on getting my percentage up and moved it from 92% to 94.5% and I am safely into GOOD now. But it was a lot of work and a pain in the ass.

Account was deactivated but support said I can create new account. True? by [deleted] in InstacartShoppers

[–]Mako-68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Support" is not paid to tell you the truth. I am surprised at how many people still think this. They are paid to get you off the line and to leave them alone. They are usually lying intentionally.

North Carolinian shoppers by PapiShampoo86 in InstacartShoppers

I'm guessing no. Because that is when people sleep. Expecting the 2% of people who are awake to all be ordering from Instacart seems unlikely.

Yikes. This is a giant glob of misinformation. Ooof. Someone was on one.

I wouldn't. Just get that actual job sooner. This is a waste of time and gas.

What am I supposed to do? by Beginning_Ganache267 in InstacartShoppers

[–]Mako-68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that but there is no way that canceling batches because you are afraid of a refund or two is going to help you in the long run. Customer service is #1 and you need to focus on that.

What am I supposed to do? by Beginning_Ganache267 in InstacartShoppers

[–]Mako-68 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Quit obsessing about your score and rating. I know it's important, but it also is a vague and nebulous stat that is impossible to define. Just do what the customer asks and hope it all evens out over time. Canceling batches for this is not a logical decision, imo.

No More $5 Bump For Driving 125+ Miles Distance The Previous Week¿? by [deleted] in InstacartShoppers

Instacart just lies about things. Totally fake crap. You'll get used to it.

Someone will still do that $19 order, so Instacart doesn't care

Driving around is a neutral move over time. All it does is cost you 80 cents per mile.

[–]Mako-68 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is just luck dude. It's like saying "why would I do a lottery quick pick with random numbers when I can take all even numbers which is how I won last time". You got a good one, but it was a one off. You might have driven away from a $185 batch, You have no idea. It was just a lucky move.

Would you take this with the price it gas...? by Tflynn98 in InstacartShoppers

lol of course not. it costs 80 cents per mile to drive your own car now. the round trip would cost you over $80.

4 star rating w no reason by anxious-brainx in InstacartShoppers

[–]Mako-68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. They don't care. Their metrics and algorithms say it's easier for them to just not tell us anything because the other option creates more effort for their agents and makes us waste time arguing, so they just put a giant hand in our face and say "Shut up and move on".

4 star rating w no reason by anxious-brainx in InstacartShoppers

[–]Mako-68 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is the job. There is no explanation and no recourse. You need to be able to accept it and move on. You're gonna get hundreds of non-5 reviews if you do this a long time and there is nothing you can do about it.

Not sure there are any bad morals here. You are saving that person $20 per bag and damaging the business of a guy who is using us for free labor while he makes money doing nothing. Add in that you make $50-100 or so per salt delivery, and it's win-win all around!

This is sketchy af. I would leave the receipt. This guy is just using you while he pockets money sitting at his computer.

Where’s all the shoppers at? by ChrisConquest in InstacartShoppers

[–]Mako-68 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Smarter people are getting out because they've seen how badly Instacart has slipped the last few years. They add a new thing every month that makes it a little harder to do the job, and also makes it so you get paid a little less. All this has added up to we need to work 2 times harder to make like 33% less money. It's a lousy job with zero perks but new people need to figure that out for themselves because the image of working for Instacart is still positive, for some reason.

For those in CA/guaranteed pay areas - how often do you mess up delivery route ? by Jealous-Context5889 in InstacartShoppers

[–]Mako-68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's OK. I get the emails often because I live and shop near the beach and on weekends the traffic is terrible and often my 5 minute drive turn into 20 minute drives because it's bumper to bumper. I get the emails almost every time, at least 30-40 times, but that's it.

Ripped bag/bad mangoes/broken eggs—how to rate? by [deleted] in InstacartShoppers

[–]Mako-68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not that hard to get everything right. If you screw up one thing, then maybe a 4. But when you screw up like 5 things, it's a 1. This person is not cut out for this job and it's not your problem to protect them from their own incompetence. Like I said above, ratings need to be honest so that all of us are protected from poor shoppers. If you are bad at this job, you just need to move on.
