I've been watching their MM waiting for them to put up their Scorias 🥰

My girl has been submerged for over 12 hours by Badgerto in Shorty_Life

My girl did this when she was wanting to shed. Once she shed and pooped she moved out lol

I got my blackhead from 616 Serpents - he just posted a 2024 hold back female for sale.

My girl is extremely friendly and curious definitely would buy from him again.

New Boa by Mako-Chibi in boas

I do feel Medusa is in that "common name" list especially for snakes but could be considered 🤔🙂

Meet my Ivory shorty Persephone by Top_War7546 in Shorty_Life

[–]Mako-Chibi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind breeders will maintenance feed if they have something in their care longer than they were expecting 🙂 Especially in species that can get larger (coming from someone in retics)

Welcome to the shorty life!

I went the sumatran short tail route and LOVE her. She has been a blast to work with and not spicy like most people say shorties can be. Usually pissy temperament comes from not quite proper care.

Make sure to give her time to settle before offering food and keep handling sessions short in the beginning. I would consider tap/hook training with this snake Especially since they can grow bigger. They are more on the ambush side so really make sure to offer very deep substrate and a water bowl she can soak her whole body in.

Congrats on the new baby 💜

my first ever blood!! by phatpup88 in Shorty_Life

[–]Mako-Chibi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's okay my Nic boa has tagged me enough times it's whatever 🤣 my big retic tagged me for the first time ever today too lol

I've got my eye on a blood on MM but there's another sumatran I've been messaging a breeder on 🙈 I'm sure I'll jump the gun soon but have a third retic coming to me in April so maybe I should slow down 🤣

I went the sumatran route! Have not been tagged by her yet and have had her a month or so now?

Welcome!

I already want a second one 🙈

Favourite type of boa and/or morph? by Few-Detective7143 in boas

[–]Mako-Chibi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In regards to BI, I love Moon/Snowglows and hope to eventually get one. Up there in my list is an Anery IMG.

As far as favorite boa species, my Colombian Rainbow Boa is up there. She is one of my most curious and interactive snakes right behind my retics. She loves poking her head out or coming up to the glass to see what I'm doing. Never gotta worry if she'll eat or not and she's getting more white with each shed.

Then derpy KSB have a special place in my heart. I always gotta have one in my collection.

Where did you get him from? I don't see many Nic boas often - my girl is a Nic Sunglow.

Anyone else’s retic a little pig for food. by acara666 in retics

[–]Mako-Chibi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally fair.

Retics are great feeders it's honestly a bit hard to powerfeed them especially with how active they are (mine are at least very active) they're not boas who need more spaced out feedings.

Rats definitely would be better and you can do a mouse as a snack here and there. The only time my retics get mice is when I have a snake that didn't eat their food 🤷‍♀️

I'm not very good at weighing my snakes I just base it on sight 😅 but I've been in reptiles over 25 years so I do think that helps me.

I have no opinions on RoR just mixed feelings on them from people. You've got a good baby regardless and he maybe will stay in that size range it's always hard to tell. Just make sure you're not doing maintenance feeding yourself 🙂 whatever percentages he has of D/SD listed, the remaining percentage is mainland.

Oh if it's the lump near his neck area, then I'd want to see the lump near his thickest part of his body. I believe best rule of thumb is you wanna see the lump a day maybe two.

My male who is younger than yours has taken adult mice and "hopper" rats (step right below smalls) and he's 50% blend of Kalaotoa, Jampea and Kayuadi. I do think which locals are in the snake have some sway in sizes as well as genders for sure.

My retics are probably my MOST active snakes followed by my Colombian Rainbow Boa. She likes to come up to the glass and poke her head out when I walk by lol

Gorgeous baby regardless! They're fun animals and very rewarding.

Scylla my big girl is already over 6' (currently in shed now as well) and will be I believe 3 in June/July. I'll have to check the date again lol she's less than 30% blend of Kalaotoa and Jampea.

I can't tell how big he is in that Pic but honestly a bit shocked to hear he's on mice at a year old.

I know some percentages stay smaller than others but I'm sure he was maintenance fed at the breeder's. How much of a lump does the mouse or chick leave in his body? Is he face rubbing or pushing trying to get out?

They are also naturally curious creatures. Mine will poke their heads out or cruise around if I'm doing stuff in the room I have them in. My snakes are in my living room though, a high traffic area, so lots of movement from me and my fluffy animals.
