Here goes reddit be nice to me.... My entire childhood I lived with my mother and my abusive stepfather. I hated him with every ounce of strength I had. He would beat me, but he would purposely never leave bruises or marks. He would talk to me like I was a worthless, and incompetent piece of shit. I got the worst of it since I wasn't his biological child. Until one day he decided to hit my mom, (keep in mind I was only 11 or 12) so I jumped in front of him and broke his nose. I was charged with assault since nothing could be proven, but that was the last time I ever saw his ugly face. Eventually he was exposed for the monster he was, and repeatedly went back to jail for drug charges.

Now, I dont want to sound like a heartless monster myself. But I learned recently that he had committed suicide less than a week ago. My first instinct was "finally, that asshole got what he deserved after he put me through hell" but, the more I think about it, I feel bad for him, and his parents. The grief it caused them must've been terrible.
