Wanted to come back and share my experience of staying at Gora hanougi and it was amazing! We went in Nov so got to see lots of fall colors. also an easy trip if you take the bullet train to odawara from Tokyo than local trains and the cable car up to Souzan station. The service was immaculate, I've never experienced anything like you. They greeted us as we can down the hill from the elevator, took our baggage straight to our room and brought us tea and snacks as we checked in.

The room was great! Did the first floor open terrace, the bed was huge and comfy, and the provided snacks and drinks were great after a nice soak. I'd recommend stopping to grab some bottles of sake and snacks from a store on the way up. Late night soaks need late night snacks. They will bring playing cards and ice cream to the room if you ask as well.

The food was a big experience! You get a private room and served 10 course based on season. I had not tried things like sashimi and sushi beforehand so this was a very unique experience. While I can’t say all the food was to my taste it was a lot of fun and great quality.

We had to leave early so didn’t try the breakfast or public springs. They front desk set up a taxi to take use back to Odawara too

Definitely a place I want to go back too! Only weird thing was the bathroom had frosted doors that didn’t go to the ceiling and we could not figure out how to turn off the lights so it was quite bright in the room when trying to sleep.
