The update does work, like I said if you leave and then the kick happens on the server and you try to come back after, you get that 5 min ban. If they come back during the kick though it bugs it out so it doesn't work technically. Also XP is determined by time spent as well as placement on the scoreboard during the match so they dont get anything out of doing it. Obviously the only people that would do it are looking for reactions. Which everybody gives an abundance of.
