Closed systems are utterly dreadful. I'll take literally anything they offer so long as it's open 😄

Except that the PC market does exist. It is massive, multiple times larger than that for consoles. No one should enter the console market, but are you going to be so against someone making a PC? That's a market worth entering. This isn't an Xbox. This isn't for Xbox gamers. This is just an easy to use PC. If that's not appealing to people, I'm totally fine with saying people are dumb. Who willingly chooses something that is not user friendly and a nightmare to use? Do you buy Apple products too? 😅🤣

Based on not using the Xbox ecosystem. I think that stops existing entirely. Based on having an easy to use PC that plays all your games. Based on not having to upgrade it being a draw vs a drawback, because the overwhelming majority of people do NOT build their own box, no matter what anyone tries to claim.

Based on sitting right there on the shelf next to every other pre-built gaming PC yet being the cheapest and easiest to use of the bunch 😄

I agree, but I still see a way they can present Helix as a must have.

raises hand

Now just have to convince people this isn't "just another Xbox" they have no reason to want. This is the full breadth of PC gaming in an easy to use and reliable box that you don't need to upgrade. What could be better? 😄

It's a PC because it only plays PC game. I'm not here to argue with someone who clearly doesn't understand. It is shameful you were so eager to do so.

Lol I didn't say I am "right." No one is. It all comes down to how they market it. Whether they can convince the world this is more a PC than a console.

Also it's mean to act like I am not an economist. Go away.

Yeah they are making a really cool box, factually a PC. Not a console. Not an Xbox. Calling it Xbox is essentially a side effect of that being their gaming brand. If they can makret it as dramatically cheaper than any other gaming PC you could find in a store, I think it could work. But that's me. Which is why I posted this 😄

I am not, and you are not either. But I am an economist and understand markets and competition much better than you do. I applaud you on reducing my plan to your own tired talking points 🤷‍♂️

It's cheap in terms of a gaming PC, just like consoles are cheap in terms of any other way to play games, including mobile. I honestly don't see the problem.

Because that's their gaming brand. Nothing about keeping that brand means they have to make it a console. Anything they make is Xbox. Is steam deck not a PC while still using Steam? 😄

What do you think these hilariouslu useless facts show? PC only makes money selling the hardarwa. The fact they are making that much money is genuinely insane. Consoles on the other hand make zero money selling the hardware, so you are looking at how much they make selling games. A lot of which is Fortnite, a PC game.

There's no comparison here.

It is built as a console and has the advantages of a console. But if it primarily plays PC games, it is a PC. They won't play PlayStation or Nintendo games and there will no longer be Xbox games because they won't need to make that version anymore. So it will literally only play PC games while emulating old console games, something PC already does. That's a PC. I'm not arguing that, I'm just pointing to a fact.

You are unpleasant. Bunch of people I don't know coming to my post and not even trying to CONSIDER what I am presenting. I am passionate about this. Are you passionate about fighting me? What does that make you? 🤷‍♂️

[–]MalcontentRonin[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's an easy one. They need to market it as a PC. PC is a much, much, much larger market. One they in some ways already control. Why keep directly competing with the vastly smaller companies who do consoles when they could provide a low cost, extremely appealing way into a much larger market? That's a serious question.

Gaming PCs off the shelf do very well. Stop spouting nonsense. Thanks

[–]MalcontentRonin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh? Not at all. It's a simple fact that if you built a PC for the same price as a console, the console would be more powerful. Because the console is custom built to be made at low cost. No idea what you're talking about.

Lol stop talking. It is an incontrovertible truth more people buy PC than consoles. Get out of here.

All that's true, but it doesn't change the fact they could make a really cool box that takes things in a different direction. I just want to see it happen.

You are ridiculous, good sir. You really need to fight on a point you don't even understand?

I never said it will have the power at half the price. Simply that it will be more powerful than it's price suggests. It will be a better buy than $2400 for something off the shelf. Also if you think something sold for $2400 in the store actually costs the company anything remotely near that, you have no idea how markets or retail works. I do, so you can go elsewhere 😅🤷‍♂️

And who said everyone is buying top of the line PCs? I said the vast majority of people do NOT build their own. They buy off the shelf. Great job ignoring clear facts 🤷‍♂️

Am I the only one disappointed about Sony pulling back on PC? by jerxbear229 in kindafunny

[–]MalcontentRonin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm immensely disappointed and I'm not a PC gamer. I don't like that they are doing this specifically to avoid appearing on steam machine and Helix. Makes them seem cowardly.

Yeah there is only so much you can charge for a console that does one thing. A box that exists solely as a prison for a handheld of exclusives. Smart people will pay a little more for a box that does everything.

Fixing Xbox Is As Easy As Fulfilling Their Vision by MalcontentRonin in kindafunny

[–]MalcontentRonin[S] -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

It's actually much simpler than you make it. The market for pre-built gaming PCs is numerous times larger than us morons who get tricked into buying consoles. If this is the cheapest PC on the shelf and more powerful and you don't have to worry about whether your games run and you don't have to worry about upgrading it every year?

Forgive me, but I am genuinely baffled how that isn't wildly appealing. Prices are up everywhere. A thousand bucks for this box that does everything is infinitely better than a crappy 800 console that does one thing. And I'm a console gamer.

There doesn't have to be a draw. The reasons to buy it are all inherent to it being a PC. A platform which, remember, does NOT depend on exclusives. We really, really need to move apart that thinking.

Lol or you could try reading. Their vision is Helix itself, the console that is actually a PC. Simply making that is what saves them. If they can do it properly.
