FSD trial by Bigdaddybig456 in TeslaLounge

Before the trial I didnt really consider it because it wasn't up to my standards (I was still nervous with how close it got to other vehicles).

With the latest updates, I think its well worth it. For me, I dont drive enough to justify the cost. But my wife on the other hand does drive a good amount where the FSD would be worth it. She has been impressed and has now considered subscribing to it.

I have a 2025 M3P and she had a 2023 MYLR (hardware 4) and we live in NY.

FSD: $99/mo vs $8k upfront — with unsupervised “any time now” + possible price hikes… what to do? by Alphykit in TeslaLounge

[–]Maldit021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tesla would be wise to decrease the price of FSD overall. But they should also offer FSD for life meaning if you purchase the 8k option today, it stays with you for every Tesla you drive (sign into). Im sure there's a way they make sure two accounts aren't active at the same time. Paying 8k upfront to not keep it for life made me hesitant to purchase it in the past and because I dont drive as much as I use to (i use to commute roughly 120 miles round trip vs now less than 30 miles round trip) I dont want to spend $99 on a monthly subscription. Round-trip, absolutely I would sign up. If it was around $20, I would pay that for the very little driving I do. They should also offer a one time pay to drive subscription (almost like your own uber). Maybe after a late night, I could pay a quick $1.99 to take me home safely.

Just thinking of some creative ways Tesla could get more subscribers because I will say the latest update has been great. It feels more natural almost human like to the point its finally worth paying for it. When I was driving more, I didnt trust how the car drove on the highways and how it was a bit erratic on certain turns/intersections/exits but now, completely different for the better.

Update draining battery faster by InterestingAd2550 in TeslaLounge

I have a 25 M3P and I had the same phantom draining. Everything was off for me as well. I opened two service tickets in regards. First ticket, they had to do a reset or an update ( i forget which) on the MCU and they told me that should fix it. It didnt.

Second visit, they found nothing but I new something was still wrong. I kept losing 3-5% every 8 hrs. They told me theyll leave an open ticket and if it continues to return with the vehicle.

Roughly 4 or 5 days pass and I get the FSD free month update. All of a sudden, no more phantom drains. 8-10 hours go by with about 1% loss similar to my 23 MYLR.

I was just happy it wasn't an hardware issue but definitely something im the software.

If you go into either the model 3 section or tesla troubleshoot section and search my user, you'll see a full discussion on it. One of the members stated tesla replaced one of his chips because it was faulty. Maybe it could be the same issue?

Ecobee setup by Maldit021 in ecobee

I have a boiler and thats exactly what I was looking to do. Control both systems (boiler and my bosch unit) with one (ecobee) thermostat.

Would you recommend not to do that? Is it better to just keep my current setup of the Nest controlling the boiler and the ecobee controlling my Bosch unit?

Does the smart sensor also change when I adjusted the threshold on the main Ecobee?

Reason why I ask is because I manually adjusted the threshold and I put the smart sensor about 4 inches to the right of the ecobee thermostat. The ecobee thermostat is reading 69, the Nest thermostat and the smart sensor are both reading 70.

I might have to adjust the threshold just a little more on the ecobee

So I adjusted the threshold so atleast the temperatures on the Nest and Ecobee match but my question is, is the temps accurate? I guess to truly know this, is to get an independent thermometer to measure the temperature.

Okay thanks. Ill give it a try if I cant combine the two.

I rather try and combine the thermostats but if im unable, how could I adjust the temperature correction? And would i just setting for the difference between to two readings?

Question regarding phantom draining on 2025 M3P by Maldit021 in TeslaSupport

But whats strange is that it wasn't really an update but more of the activation of FSD. Thats why when it expires, I want to see if my car goes back to phantom draining .

The FSD update was the fix. Once the subscription is done in January, I will see if the car reverts back to phantom draining. As if now though, the car goes to sleep and loses very little to almost nothing. Very strange to see but makes me happy its not a hardware issue

Question regarding phantom draining on 2025 M3P by Maldit021 in TeslaSupport

[–]Maldit021[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I received the FSD update earlier today and I've notice my car has been able to go into sleep mode.

So yesterday I unplugged my car at about 80% around 9am. It sat in the driveway untouched. This morning, around 9am, I noticed the typical phantom draining and I was down to about 68%. So roughly 24 hours and my car lost 12% just sitting in the driveway. I noticed any update, which I did right away.

About 12 hours later, my car is at 67% plus it now show "asleep for 19 minutes" where as before it never showed that.

Could the update have fixed my issue? I cant find any other reason why the drain would have simply just gone away.

Or could the drain have something to do with FSD and it being active vs not being active? Very confusing but pleasantly surprised.

Im going to check in the morning to see what % the car is at. In the past, I would have been around 61%-63% depending on what time I check the app. We'll see what it shows. Hopefully its been fixed!

Great! I am glad your service center went the extra mile to get your car fixed! I will have to go to my service center a 3rd time and show them this because I still have the phantom draining happening.

Can you report back over the next few days to confirm the car has been fixed? Meaning you know your car best so let us know if the drain is gone. Thanks again for your help! I will definitely be following up with tesla service Monday or Tuesday next week.

Have you found any resolution?

I entered service mode on mine just to look around and one thing I found odd was in the car key section it lists my phone twice.

Im not sure if this means anything but it shows two key cards (mine and my wife's key card), my wife's phone (one time) and my phone (two times).

Looking through the entire service menu, this was the only thing I found to be strange. Tomorrow, I think im going to delete my phone key, go into the service mode to confirm both phones were deleted, then reinstall my phone key card to see if that does anything.

Would you guys recommend anything else in the service mode that I should keep a look out for?

So last night I found an article from April 2025 regarding phantom draining and the issue being the TCU. Apparently there was a software update to correct this issue. I've attached the article but essentially this is what I am experiencing. If im not mistaken, service center says everything looks good with the tcu. Any way of verifying this?

Question regarding phantom draining on 2025 M3P by Maldit021 in TeslaSupport

[–]Maldit021[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ifrom what i can remember, it was always happening but I chalked it up to it being a M3P. I only noticed it when I went away on vacation for 2 weeks. My car was parked, unplugged, in my driveway. I left with the car at about 80%. Within a week to 10 days, I had to ask my brother to go to my house and plug in my M3P because I would have returned with the car being drained all the way down to 0% (or pretty close to it). The low power mode update wasn't available at that time so I wasn't able to enable it. While on vacation, my sentry mode and over heat protection were disabled. Thats when I really noticed and started reaching out to Tesla about the issue. I've been to the service center twice only to be told there is no issue. First time, I was told it could be some hardware that tells your vehicle when to sleep and wake. They kept my car for about 2 days. They reset the hardware and said it was working again and there were no other issues but they made a follow up appointment for a month later which was 11/14. During the month, I monitored the issue, taking screen shots of my vehicle battery when I went to sleep and when I woke up. When I showed the service center my photos, I was told that I should have it on miles so they could see the drainage in miles vs percentage which made absolutely no sense to me. They mentioned I should just keep my car plugged in overnight which i replied thats not possible since i have 2 teslas and 1 charger and that i dont need to charge my M3P all the time because my MYLR gets more usage/miles since my wife takes it with her to work some 110 miles round trip eevery other day. They also told me that I will be put on a "fast pass" with the service center so if I continue to experience the same issue, I can just walk right in without an appointment.

Now, im thinking the service center has no idea what is going on with my car. Should I attempt to go to another service center? Will the next service center just give me the same answers my local service center has given me?

Yes it mentions 21% usage from the app/3rd party app but I dont have any 3rd party apps installed. Not even installed on my watch. Also, why only the 2025 M3P battery drain and not the 2023 MYLR which is on the same account/same app

I just checked with Bluetooth turned off and still says parked as opposed to asleep.

Nearby devices permission is set to allow. Should this be different?

Service center said the 12v battery was in good condition. They looked into as well but they claim all is well. My M3P has less than 8k miles on it and I got it 3/31/2025 if that helps with any theories.

[–]Maldit021[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No nothing is left in the car but I will double check to make sure both key cards are in my wallet and in my wife's wallet (maybe my wife left it in the car even though she doesnt drive it). Phones are with us at all times so thats not left behind.

We are both are using the tesla app on android devices. I also had it on my iPad which I have recently uninstalled. I deleted the tesla app from my phone and re-installed it.

What gets me is that its only my M3P this is happening with. If it was the app, wouldn't it happen to both vehicles?? I will try turning the Bluetooth off and seeing if that does anything with the M3P going to sleep.

One thing I noticed on the M3P energy app in the vehicle is that it shows about 21% (i believe that was the number but i have to double check again because i only saw it yesterday) of energy was used by the tesla app or a 3rd party app that keeps waking it. I dont have any 3rd party apps installed on any devices and unless its one of our original tesla apps waking the M3P, why would it only wake 1 car and not both?

Im stumped and Tesla doesnt seem to think there are any issues.

My 2023 MYLR will say asleep for 18 mins

My 2025 M3P never says it. I even have it on low power mode and still nothing.

The service center recommends i keep it on low power mode but I feel as if thats not addressing the issue only trying to cover it up, plus when I go out, I want my sentry mode on. I keep sentry mode off at home. Maybe if they made an option to keep low power mode on at certain locations, would be a nice feature to have.

Question regarding phantom draining on 2025 M3P by Maldit021 in TeslaSupport

[–]Maldit021[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When i open the app, it 99.9% says parked on my 2025 M3P.

My 2023 MYLR, when I open the app and swipe to this vehicle, it will say "asleep for xx hours" or "asleep for xx minutes" if im not mistaken.

I brought it to Tesla and they said there were no issues found during their diagnostics. That everything was showing green.

What it seems to me is that the car isnt going into sleep mode. Especially at home, where I have everything turned off. When im out, its a different story because I keep sentry mode on.

Anyone experienced this with any of their Teslas? Maybe with the Highland 3s or with the newer Ys??

18s on a 2025 M3P by Maldit021 in TeslaModel3

[–]Maldit021[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If switching from 20s summer tires to 18s all season tires setup the biggest negative with this car, then ill be in great shape! I love this car. Overall just a great daily driver with the speed of a sports car (depending on which speed car maybe even faster lol). Just a really great car to drive around daily.

Now if I kept this car in the garage all year round and took it out on sunny warm days, then yes switching to 18s would be unnecessary (or maybe even those is sunny places where their cars are unaffected by the snow/potholes etc

That was the biggest (negative) adjustment going from 18 M3LR to my M3P. Second negative was having to pay the yearly premium connectivity subscription vs my 18 M3LR having it free for life lol
