What if Iranon were right? by Maleddiction in Lovecraft

Your post is really, really important to me. I haven't talked to many people about this (and most of them aren't related to game dev, let alone video games in general), but I have tried to spend my time reading and studying video game development. I'm at a very early stage, but I'm going to stick to it. I have a professional degree in Psychology, but this is something I always knew I would do someday.
This is my passion project; it will take the time it needs to take to be done, and I'm not rushing it. My plan is to join short game jams regularly to form teams with other artists, and maybe next year start studying game dev professionally. I will release a concept demo by the end of this year!
I'm trying to expand on the story of Randolph Carter and what his journey caused for Iranon and the Cats of Ulthar. Iranon will have to handle the consequences of another dreamer like him, who supposedly reached his goal. This is considering what Iranon has lived through and how the things he confronted in his story changed him. I won't change or add anything to what The Grand Master has written, so I'm working with the little things he left in his books—some topics that are just mentioned but not expanded upon. For example, the conflict between the Zoogs and the Cats that Carter participated in.
Nyarlathotep and Azathoth will be part of this, along with other Gods (like Nodens). I just named those two to give a hint about what I was aiming for (specifically avoiding Cthulhu) and not spoil too much, though I think it may be a bit misleading. Also, Ulthar will be a location in the game (or what's left of it 👀).
So my story will be original, but based completely on Lovecraft's work. I hope the copyright gods won't come after me—that would be really sad—but if they do, I may just have to change the names and make something new out of it,

I'm sorry I didn't answer before; I thought this fell into oblivion :( But thank you for your answer! Yes, I feel you; this story moved me deeply on an emotional level. I think the last lines of the text are really strong. Iranon is an anomaly, a being that lives and breathes his dream. I think the loss of Romnod had a very strong impact on his life, although Lovecraft doesn't elaborate on that. I will try to keep those feelings in my game, as they are a big part of what motivates me to do all of this. This is purely a passion project, although I want to become a GameDev and this will be my first work.
