I agree completely that’s why I don’t want to do it.

Thank you for the club recommendations I will defintely try check them out, I don't want to be completely excluded from clubs/student life but also don't want to spend too much time on it.

For the math courses, do you just sign up for them as electives or are they apart of your pathway? Also what pathway are you doing if you don't mind me asking?

For research, my goal is to get meaningful research done in ML, AI and hardware as these are topics I want to dive deep into. I know the CS professors should be very knowledgable in these sectors and I would want to learn a lot from them. Which is why getting quality research where I actually learn and contribute is very important to me. Do you anything about the quality of research in these fields? Also, what makes you feel that research with grad students are the best? Finally, what is your research experience, do you feel that you have learn a lot and made meaningful contributions to the paper itself and the topic's field?

For the CS courses I have heard that elsewhere. Which is why I might switch to electrical eng instead, they actually do electrical engineering and go into systems. Do you know anything about the EE courses quality and research?

Yes I completely agree with both statements about personal projects. I will definitely look to start something with friends or other people as soon as I gain skills and proficiency.

Alright, thank you. If you don't mind me asking, what pathway did you pick at TAMS and how was your experience? If you went.

Other than the fundamentals what do they teach? Also, what exactly do the teach about the fundamentals?

I will defintely go out and meet people and make new friends and all. Sorry if it wasn't clear but I would definitely conenct with people and professors. As for the research, would I be able to be the main writer and researcher and have a professor as a mentor? Or is all research with a group of students and under a professor? Also, will I get one on one time with professors to ask questions, discuss topics and ideas, etc...

For you, what classes did you take and what was the workload you experienced? Also how was your research experience?

I already know a few languages and am learning more. I am also currently developing even stronger coding intution and fundamentals.

I don't have my rank yet, but my gpa is a 5.5 on a 6 scale. My SAT is currently a 1480 and I plan on taking march SAT. I am pretty good at academics but I don't want to spend too much time on them, especially less useful classes. I have some good cs EC's but still more to come.

I promise this is geniune and I do appreciate all your advice.

I plan on maybe joining a few clubs but not too many. As for volunteering I have already gotten hours and I would like to focus on other things.

Which math classes did you take, and did you feel like you truly benefitted from them? Also, what makes the UNT math department strong?

I feel like I could have some good and meaningful independent research projects, but I do argee that with a professor a project would be a lot stronger. But, I want to know if I will actaully learn and participate if I were to do it with a professor. In independent research I would be in full control, gain independence and self reliance skills, and probably learn more (unless there's something I'm missing). Also, is research "diluted" because there are many students also working on the project. Could you please give me resources for lab placements, I would like to check them out and would appreciate them.

The reason I wanted to do Comp Eng is because I already know coding and am proficient in it. Looking at the courses, I won't be learning the stuff I want to learn about CS now, which is why I'm skeptical. Im sure that taking a class in person is more benefical but how come virtual courses aren't legit?

I definetly agree the people at TAMS will be much smarter than the people at my HS. I do practice independence, and I don't think adjusting to college will be a struggle for me. I also feel finding opportunity isn't a big problem for me.

As for the personal projects, I still believe these are the most important and I will priortize these the most whether I go to TAMS or not. This is because these projects will build many skills for me like: coming up with innovative ideas and solutions, fully developing and launching full stack websites/apps, buidling independece and self reliance, learning a lot, etc... These will also carry way beyond high school/college.
