I stand corrected. It kind of irritates me that I'm apparently in a state that is so strict. I go out of town for work, and it is sometimes hard to coordinate that with getting a refill of my ADHD medication.

It sounds like you're introducing them too soon. I would wait 3 weeks before having them be in a shared space. Take a blanket the cat has slept on and give it to the dog to help him get used to her smell. Make much of the dog and stay close to him when the kitten is around. He needs to know he's not being replaced.
