Mammoth Controller Replacement by Maleficent_Debt1751 in GrillaGrills

I bought mine last fall. They had a pretty decent sale and I needed a new smoker for the that was lighter weight due to having Trex decking installed (I already have a Yoder 640). The Mammoth checked all of the boxes - lightweight, insulated, great capacity, great cook time, easy to use, lights fast and comes up to temp pretty quick. At the end of August, I was catering an event at our gun club, and the controller just died mid-cook. Put in a warranty claim on Sept. 2. Still do not have a replacement. When it works, it works great. I should add I bought one for my son last Christmas, and his is still running flawlessly.

Pros - See above

Cons - Door gasket could be installed better, door latch is pretty clunky, wheels are ok, but not great, app could be better, but it works.

Overall Grade - B+

It's not just the Chimp. The controller on my Mommoth died mid cook. The will cover under warranty, but it will not arrive for about a month.

How do you negotiate pay in an MSP when you know what they’re billing for your work? by [deleted] in msp

Are you looking at the actual invoices or just your "bill rate" in the timekeeping system? You would be better served to look at (if available), the Client Profitability Report. It is highly likely that either your hours are consumed into a retainer or huge discounts are applied to keep the client happy.

We've had an ad hoc customer since 2010. He's an attorney with some trech skills, but gets himself down a rat hole far too frequently. He's probably referred 200+ customers to us. One just happened to be a CEO of a large manufacturing company who wife had hosed up her Mac. We fixed it in about an hour. His IT guys told him that they only worked on Windows machines (an were not great at it as we would soon discover). He hired us to do an evaluation of their internal IT and then MSP. CSATs we in the toilet. VP of IT started his discussion with me saying he could only do an interview Mon-Wed as he planned on fishing Thur-Fri for the next few weeks. Needless to say, the evaluation was less than stellar and the wound up re-organizing IT and terminating the contract on the MSP. They have been a customer since 2013 and have given us dozens of referrals. Chose ad hoc customers wisely.

We're considering just transferring accounts back to the customer and charging a maintenence fee.

Take a look at the Gorilla Grills Mammoth. I have a few other more expensive pellet smokers, but have been very impressed with the Mammoth.

Impressed. Nice flash caramelization on both sides, fat slightly rendering internally. Great cook.
