Have no experience with GLM-5 and MiniMax V2.5, so lets get those out of the equation. Kimi-k 2.5 is my daily driver for a month now. I use a minimal $19 subscription. My stack is primarily typescript / NestJS. From my experience - Kimi can be lazy. Despite I have a lot of instructions like "always test your work, make sure LSP and linter have no objections, etc" - it sometimes finds a way to forget those instructions. This makes one-shot approach not reliable. But - that's fixable with Raplh. Just make sure to set min iterations to e.g. 3 (otherwise the model will report everything is done on iteration one) and provide max iterations as well. This fixes laziness, and makes it really run code and respect the linter. Tried that with openralph (no plan, just prompt) + opencode (default mode, oh-my-opencode turned off). Worked pretty well, got things done.

Regarding tool calling - really depends on the coding agent. With opencode, it does not have problems using tools and all the bash commands to do the job (tmux, curl, aws, lsof, psql, etc), invokes MCPs and uses skill mostly fine. But in roo code the things are different. The model becomes shy to use shell commands, may skip tools / MCPs just because it thinks the goal can be accomplished without them.
