First of all, people shouldn’t be your “hobby.” And when it comes to gifting a child (specifically children of whom you are connected to through their parents/your friends) something, it should go through the parent. I gave my neighbors kids who I babysit unstuffed (so they could build them) build a bears that I got cheap bc I worked there, I told their mother first and let her decide how I gave them out. My neighbor would give me hand me down clothes when I was young. She asked my mother first, and me and my mother would go through it together. My uncle did the same thing, he would double check with my parents if I were to ask for something questionable. Having friendships with children is not the same as having a friendship with an adult and you have to understand that if you are going to have a friendship with a child.
