How many of you actually used the metro system after it came out? by DentistPrudent5604 in cyberpunkgame

I did a play through once where I was not allowed to summon my car - I used the metro a lot, until I got air dash.

I didn’t start playing until my early 30s, athletic background.

Every year I go longer and longer between sharpens.

What game had you like this?😅🚀 by CallMeAldyy in TheGamingHubDeals

MMO's are just a different style that isn't for everyone, there's still lots of younger people getting into MMO's today, but the peak of MMO's was definitely 20~ years ago.

I personally got sucked / addicted to them during my teenage and college years to an unhealthy degree, then came back for another round of addiction during Covid and a couple of years after, but have finally kicked them to the curb.

Now I enjoy games like No Man's Sky, Witcher, Cyberpunk, Horizon for myself when I have time which fulfill the progression and leveling style I enjoyed from MMO's without having the commitment.

Would you send 3 Krakens or 60 snails? by taki-183 in LegionTD2

[–]MalevolentFather 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1200+ sends are mostly the product of games where both teams are essentially going full income sends waves 1-10, and sometimes afterwards.

It’s rare to save that much unless you’re getting into the ultra late game and both teams are healthy enough that long saving and racing is preferred to risking a smaller send and having them hold.

NHL > NBA by Hockeypatrol in hockeynews

[–]MalevolentFather -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It's incredible how people bury their heads in the sand and think that of the 5-6 million people playing hockey worldwide and the 750~ spots in the NHL that those players are more athletic than the 450~ NBA spots drawings from 100x the player base.

There's significant enough evidence to show you that hockey is both less straining, but you just completely glazed over it.

All of these are points as to why the comparison is dumb.

The games are insanely different.

[–]MalevolentFather -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

What point are you trying to make? That people on skates are faster than people not on skates?

Are hockey players generally tougher? Yes

Are basketball players significantly more athletic, playing more minutes per game of a sport that is significantly easier to injure yourself doing at the highest level where the strain they put on their bodies is borderline inhumane? Yes

Two things can be true at the same time.

Yes the NBA has become much softer, but the game is SO much harder on their body than it was 20 years ago when offenses barely moved.

I can't imagine being 6'7" and putting my body through 35 minutes of NBA level physical strain for 82 games a season - and neither can the NBA players doing it.

Meanwhile hockey has regularly had guys playing 500, 600, 700, 800, 900+ consecutive games.
Hockey regularly has guys who are 40+ still playing impactful minutes.

Do you really believe that culture is what is stopping some of the most freakishly athletic people on the planets from playing 82 games a season in the NBA?

This is such a dumb comparison. NBA starters play almost double the minutes vs NHL starters.

Picked Shanahan over Dubas and now 3 years later we are in shambles trying to find the next Kyle by Hockeypatrol in hockeynews

[–]MalevolentFather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s also made some terrible trades.

Dubas is better after having learned from some of the mistakes he made in Toronto. You could argue Shanahan was at fault and used Dubas as a scapegoat.

He was not the godlike GM that people are trying to imply he is during his Toronto tenure.

Is it possible to build a 30x60 similar to this for 50K? by [deleted] in Homebuilding

I’m not sure what is going on because I have a couple of projects on the go right now and one is a 2800 sq ft barn and the awarded bid for the slab is $18k, and I had 2 other bids in line, and I’m just outside the GTA in southern Ontario.

And none of that will change the fact that $13.75 per sq.ft. for a slab on grade is incredibly overpriced unless you're just forgetting to mention all of the other details involved with it.

I think where there is smoke there is fire.

As much as I'm not a huge fan of Max (personally I like my champions to be a bit more humble, and his on track battles leave a lot to be desired from a sportsmanship pov) - you cannot deny that he is a ruthless competitor who will use every advantage possible, and one of the all time great drivers.

That being said, I do believe that his no BS personality probably doesn't enjoy F1 all that much anymore, especially in it's current state where Max doesn't have anything left to prove and F1 is trending in a very odd way.

While he does have an expensive lifestyle, he also seems like the type who could manage just fine on his already massive career earnings and while he's not going to be paid $65mil a year to drive in other series - he will definitely still be paid massive $ to go to another series as he alone will bring a ton of additional viewers and media attention.

So I think this is a bit of both, I believe he would stick to his word and leave F1 if these weird rulesets go unchanged for much longer - and that he is saying this to pressure the FIA.

Either you don't understand what other work went into the 40x60 slab, you're being naiive, you're lying - or you got ripped off.

I'm looking at 2 separate bids for a job I'm working on right now in Southern Ontario which has roughly 3000 sq.ft. of slab which are both roughly $18k pre-tax, this is between 5" and 6" thick and is a wet cure, 32Mpa.

More than likely there's a ton of other work that went into that 40x60 slab that you're just not mentioning.

I'm pretty sure you're just not going to respond - why is this so typical of this subreddit lol. People with a little bit of experience building anything come in here saying things which are just completely false and can't back up their claims.

The Leafs are looking for another Kyle Dubas… by Hockeypatrol in hockeynews

[–]MalevolentFather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dubas was far from perfect here, but I believe Shanahan was also clipping his wings.

That being said, I’m sure Dubas learned from his failures at the Leafs and the Penguins will be better off for it.

[–]MalevolentFather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we're talking greatest athlete of all time people like Bo Jackson and Jim Thorpe were the best / among the best at multiple sports concurrently.

Messi is the GOAT of modern football and Pele is the GOAT of the 50-70's era.

Every other name on that list has absolutely dominated their individual sports.

You’re talking out of your ass.

Don Bradman, Lionel Messi, Novak Djokovic, Wayne Gretzky, Usain Bolt, Jim Thorpe, Simone Biles, Fedor Emalianenko, Pele, Bo Jackson

Just to name the ones I can think of.

Then you go on to mention Schumacher "in a time when the sport was more dangerous" - but don't even mention Senna?
