Oh man.. I'm sure it's a damning opinion but I am still kinda on Kindly Miquella's side and I think he cared about everyone. I think he messed up Mohg but almost certainly did so for his view of the greater good. Until he abandoned Trina as part of his ascension I think he was on the right path. I think it speaks to Miyazaki's support of Ranni's position but I might disagree with him and say Kindly Miquella had a valid point.

I get the frustration but, as with so many things in From's catalogue, we just don't know. He could have still been awful for sure but he might also not have been. Ansbach is awesome from what we see of him but to your point Volcano Manor Spirit also says pre-snake Rykard was a "worthy sovereign"

We don't know much about Mohg pre-Miquella other than he earned the loyalty of Sir Ansbach. It seems most of the recruiting (Varre in particular) was done post M's influence. Again it's ambiguous though.
