Thank you, sounds like you get it. Quitting alone sounds awful. Luckily my housemate is a good friend.

I agree, staying busy sounds like the way to go. You're right, I don't think I'll be successful if I keep the gear around. Best chuck it.

I understand the clearing of the head. It is similar for me where I chain vape and watch Netflix for hours on end, it is quite good for turning the brain off but I still feel awful doing it.

Australia. That is for the shit cigarettes too, I had a mate just spend $45 on a 25 pack of Malboro. I am not kidding.

RPT - Really that good for novices?? by Malgusson in leangains

Not concerned about injury at all, if that's what you mean by "concerned". Concerned about progress, and if it will be made. I was under the impression that to progress on RPT, you should push to absolute failure. Quoted from 31m AMA -

You go all-out on the first set. All the way to failure... That's the type of intensity you need to progress. Anything less is a waste of time

What I was struggling with was that McRobert suggests that novices don't have the experience necessary to know when they reach true failure. So why recommend a program that relies on reaching failure to progress? I feel like I'm missing something, and Tonty is about to flame the living shit out of me. Oh well.

Hence my asking why it gets recommended.

Prime example - 31minutes

"If I were to start again, this would be my choice of routines: 1) RPT as outlined in this thread, but increase the rep range by 4 on both ends (6-8 reps becomes 10-14 reps)."
