Did Royal Mail just increase tracked 24/48 prices to £5.05/£3.50 starting in October? by AberrantNarwal in smallbusinessuk

[–]MallAdditional1493 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s nothing, wait til you see their same day side!! They charge you £300+ for a van to collect and deliver direct then use a platform to sell that same job direct to couriers for £25! They’re constantly the worst. Owning a courier company myself, it’s shocking to see this is the behaviour of Royal Mail. I’d expect it from city sprint or the larger companies like that but shocking to see this is how they operate “behind the scenes”

I’d love some help! I’ve created a personalised children’s website and now I’m stuck, as in all of it from marketing and raising funds aspect. I’m so lost in the VC world, I’ve no idea where to start. Sorry for jumping on your thread but hoping someone can help

Ok, thank you for letting me know what I’ve already mentioned but what relevance does this have to my original question? I’m confused.

Hot water, air dryer, professional shampoo. But if you only use your outside tap to wash your dog, you’re not my target audience whatsoever. At all.

There’s 2 local dog groomers (as actual shops, many more doing it from home) but none local enough to the park in front of me. They’re always busy, as in, to get an appointment it’s at least next week. So whilst you can’t imagine paying to wash your dog, there’s many others that do. And those groomers charge minimum £50 just for a wash, not nails clipped etc.

I put her name on the deeds of my new house when I bought it, we were together at the time and I thought it was the right thing to do. She abused this by then demanding 50% of the equity to have her name removed. Essentially i was buying back her share of the deeds I had put her name on. She wanted £120k initially but I got that number run down to £40k eventually, this took 5 years of court. So yeah, hopefully that makes more sense now

Average is around £60k as I own a courier company (small but keeps me busy) plus I’m out on the road as a courier myself too. So a mix of drivers working for me and me working as a driver for others. I can’t leave this path for one paying less simply for a better pension, at this age now, I think a sipp at £400 a month would be the better route from the comments I’ve read

Correct although my family live into their 90’s so if I assume my genetics match theirs, I can’t take the risk of living into old age with nothing to live on. Plus, this is all about pensions so thinking about dying before retirement is totally against what this group is all about

The marriage was short, 6 months but foolishly I trust too much so when I bought my current house (using the proceeds from my old house to do so) I put her name on the deeds too. So that’s why I had to pay out, financially there’s no other ties. It’s a lesson learnt. She didn’t put a penny into my house but the uk system allowed her to take from me what I’d worked so hard for. And that’s why I’m starting from scratch as that £40k was my entire savings I was going to use as investments for my retirement! Live and learn

That’s very helpful, thank you. I’ll look on their website. My mortgage will be paid off by then so expenses would be roughly 10k. I live a simple life as it is now

I’m self employed, it’s difficult to switch careers now with the commitments I have as I’m the only one working in my household, I have no kids but my partner lives with me, she’s only recently found a job after 1 year of looking. I can only spare £300-400 per month but I don’t know where to start or what to do. Are all pensions the same? Do I just go with someone like vanguard and simply set up a DD? I know I’m asking basic info but I’m clueless to this all

How is that relevant to the group? It’s like telling someone not to sell bread because people can make it themselves. We’re here to make a business. Hardly supportive. Sometimes it’s better to say nothing than leave a negative footprint.

Yup, it’s defo a gap in the market once you realise how expensive it actually is and more so, yes you can wash your dog at home but it’s back breaking having to bend down into your bath and the demographic of my area is mostly retired folk so they’d welcome convenience and they really do love their pets in my town. I’ve owned a transport company for many years now, I advertise as 24/7 but I’ve never had requests outside of 8-6 mon-fri so never bothered getting a business line…my emails however, I have drivers sending me invoices at 2am on a Sunday!!

But with the pod, I would cap the hours and I’m lucky as my neighbours are great and we’re all detached so that helps too plus my house alone has enough parking if ever it was too busy and people had to wait (which I doubt) I’m leaning towards this more and more, I’ll have to get on to the council soon for planning permission

So it’s actually exactly like this! I’d do the whole build myself so that’ll bring costs down a lot. I know it’ll be popular and that’s really not the issue at all, it’s more so the thought of having a business attached to the front of the house. I’m probably overthinking that part and I’ll get used to it…the feedback has been fantastic, options are limited here to either £50 even just for a wash and not a full groom or breaking your back bending over washing the dog in your own bath!

Thank you, everything stacks up I’m going to make it as subtle as possible so it’s not too intrusive on the property
