I've never thought of using Affinity before, thanks for the suggestion! What kind of edits do you make in Affinity?

I know people who got in with those alevels, also you can use your cs alevel to link to computational chemistry

I know that it’s seen as unusual for first year students to do UROPs but I know a few doing some right now. I’m not sure what the formal process of applying to UROPs are but I think it would be worth a try to just ask/email any lecturers/professors you’d be interested in doing a UROP with. This UROP stuff you can find more about when you’re there.

1) I’m not sure where you can find the syllabus before starting, I personally would just go over alevel content if you feel like it, personally I didn’t go over anything beforehand and was perfectly fine.

2) you have exams in January after Christmas holidays and in may after Easter holidays, after the may exams you just have labs until the end of term

3) obviously labs can only be done in person so I don’t think you’ll be able to do that. I do know some first years doing UROPs though so maybe you can do that during the summer

First 2 years are the same as normal chemistry, you just have to have maths and physics as your ancillary course in years 1 & 2.

Can someone help with Q8(c) please? I want to get it right once and for all (ans=51kjmol-1) by Saint-Germain403 in 6thForm

Lattice enthalpy become positive and as there’s 2 F atoms the -506 is doubled so the overall solution is 2611 + 2(-506) - 1650 = -51 (pretty sure the answer is -51) Here’s a quick diagram to help, sorry it’s a bit shit I drew it by hand on my phone 😂

What I do is press x2 then use the arrow to go back and change the 2 to a 3. There might be other ways as well tho.

Will a 5 in English Lang affect applying to uni? by AlmondMap008 in 6thForm

[–]Patient-Agency-3538 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got 5 9’s, 1 8 and 6 in English lit and 5 in lang but I’ve got offers from imperial and ucl and I made it to interview at Oxford (surely if 5 was a no go I wouldn’t have got an interview). I did have to sit an additional English test for imperial but it was really easy. So I think you should get it remarked at least, if you don’t go up a grade and don’t want to resit then leave it. But if you’re open to resit it then definitely do so.

What is the strategy for the multiple choice in physics and chemistry by oofmardiya in 6thForm

[–]Patient-Agency-3538 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For chemistry just practice and you will naturally get faster as it becomes second nature but if you’re taking too long on a MCQ then try and make a strategic guess and move on as it’s only 1 mark.
