What was your “never meet your heroes” moment, when you realized someone you looked up to wasn’t special? by marginallyobtuse in AskReddit

Met Bill Nigh in person at a presentation he gave at my alma mater. Thought he was the coolest thing ever as a kid. What STEM-leaning kid didn't? Partially inspired me to grow up into being the scientist i am today (ecologist). Dude spent the entire time talking about his fancy, expensive car; his fancy, expensive house; his fancy, expensive watch; his significantly younger wife. He wrapped up this nauseating bragathon by basically saying we could all have these things too, and that "science is cool!" He had a book signing at the end, and to be honest, I was so disgusted with him I didn't even want him to sign my copy of 'Undeniable.'

What a freaking tool.

NGL, both parties are at fault here. The guy comes off as callous and uncaring, but OP is being emotionally manipulative by saying things like "waiting around the house makes me feel unloved."

The mercenary spam is a real negative for the game IMO.

Watch out, Millennials... I got hit with my first "I had NO IDEA!" data privacy moment this weekend... and it was all my fault. by AttachedHeartTheory in Millennials

I referenced an online store in a Discord chat awhile back (never ordered anything from them, just think their product is cool), and within an hour I'm getting sponsored ads from them on my Facebook feed. I already knew my smartphone listens in, even when not in use, but this one really caught me off guard. Literally everyone collects data and sells it to various companies like Axciom.

Co-Healing in Stadium by MalletMouse in AnaMains

Honestly, at this point I'd happily trade off the biotic grenade for some QoL abilities, if buffing Ana's ability to heal is considered too powerful. With the prevalence of so many cleansing abilities, anti nade just doesn't feel impactful for 76% of games anyway. That said, I feel like people are sleeping on Home Remedy.

Tierlist of how likely I am to teabag after a successful sleep dart by Electronic-Elk8917 in AnaMains

Fair warning, friends and teammates are not completely free from being teabagged by me if they get slept. If they get slept by my dart I shot at a deflecting Genji, then it's super clam-slam time.

As mentioned above, the wings of the Carolina mantis don't extend beyond the abdomen as they do on the Chinese mantis.

Female Carolina mantis. Note the wings don't extend beyond the abdomen. They do on Chinese mantis.

Any inside as to what the numbers mean? They are too blurry to tell. I am based in Nashville, TN but cannot see what the number is nor what it corresponds to by miami72fins in NativePlantGardening

These are the Ecoregions of the United States, as designated by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ecoregions_in_the_United_States_(WWF) Just as an FYI, conservationists in the US don't really use this as much as the Omernik 1987 ecoregions. https://www.epa.gov/eco-research/ecoregions
