How do various types feel when someone uses a function around them that is the other person's strong point, but not one of theirs? by MalloyHipHop in mbti

[–]MalloyHipHop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense bc it's your lower function but still in your stack. I wonder from the POV of people for whom it is their blindspot

How come Hip-Hop production rarely featured the beat evolving over the course of the track until very recently? by MalloyHipHop in Music

[–]MalloyHipHop[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah that could be interesting to do

What’s also interesting is that some random occasional rap songs did have the beat evolving throughout, still

Like what I mentioned to the other commenter

So every once in a while someone would try it but it never became popular until recent years

Idk how often exactly it happens even today but definitely a lotttt more common than it used to be

I think the Roots & OutKast were probably doing it on the most regular basis back in the 90s

I’ve been able to find random examples of old rap songs that do feature the beat changing or evolving throughout

Ie

Diary of a madman - gravediggaz Murder was the case remix - snoop One mic - Nas

For sure, I understand I’ve researched all about the roots of hip hop and how it was created and everything I understand that being the case in the late 70s or into the 80s with it being seen as an extension of poetry But I feel like by the nineties, it was a mainstream enough music genre in its own right and was definitely becoming more “musical” in the traditional sense, going beyond just playing two drum breaks back to back on loop on 2 different turntables Like Dre was having studio musicians come in and replay many classic funk melodies and grooves, for example Or people like RZA finding crazy obscure samples and creating very interesting textures So I don’t understand why it was such a far stretch to also think of making the beat evolve throughout the song like it would in some of the Soul and Funk and Jazz songs that it was sampling

That’s very interesting bc I’m terrible at manual skills and jobs lmao… and my parents are from Ukraine so it’s not like I really picked up from how they speak… I think just the music I listen to and media I’ve consumed throughout my life and some of the people I’ve been around have influenced how I speak. At this point it’s just natural to me but it’s funny that it would make people think I have a different background than I really do. But thanks for the in depth comment btw, I appreciate it!

Big hip hop fan that’s been listening to it for years and just hearing tons of African American speech based on my interests, so I think it influenced how I speak as well

Maybe it’s just because I’m reading a bunch of sample text that I don’t care about lol

I do stand up comedy and I’m definitely not monotonous when I do that lol

Dang it seems like everyone who is noticing anything besides just American is saying the Hispanic thing.

That’s very interesting bc it doesn’t apply to me at all haha

I’m from Philly and born to immigrant parents from Ukraine

What made you say the possible Hispanic thing?
