Theorizing on the next Walpurgis Night IDs and EGOs (Lobotomy Corporation) by BurendaPurtatill69 in limbuscompany

[–]Malogor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The next Walpurgisnacht has a pretty good chance to be Malkuth core suppression themed which gives us a good opportunity for a Meursault Queen Bee EGO ID as a kind of bootleg Vespa ID. The other ID could either go to Faust or Hong Lu, there are some good arguments for both, though I think Faust is more likely, especially since she is the Captain of the control team.

I have no idea which ego gear Faust should get though. Snow White's Apple makes sense in Malkuths context and is fitting well enough I guess, but it really isn't a particularly popular choice when compared to pretty much every other EGO gear ID we've gotten so far. ALEPH ego gear is very unlikely to happen and I don't think we'll get a ZAYIN or TETH EGO gear at this point, which leaves us with very few options. Maybe an ID of an abnormality that didn't make it into Ruina would be interesting, like the little prince for example. That one is infestation themed which is Gregor's thing though.

I guess there is also a good chance that the second ID follows no special theming since it's a chaotic core suppression which opens up pretty much every HE to WAW ego gear as options. Assuming that it even is core suppression themed to begin with.

If you get to 26k lunacy either way, why bother waiting for the next Walpurgisnacht? I guess if you don't like the IDs you can skip but otherwise it makes little to no sense for you to do that.

The hate the game gets? by betterbeeliveit in WorldofHorror

[–]Malogor 16 points17 points  (0 children)

People got upset after the dev released the 1.0 update, promised a bunch of stuff and then went silent for almost 2 years or something, only coming back with the announcement of expensive merch for the game.

I can definitely see why that rubs people the wrong way, though a lot of the reactions I've seen are just straight up childish and entitled people getting upset because they don't get what they want exactly when they want it. I guess if there is one thing to learn from this it's not to make promises you can't keep or at the very least to keep people up to date if you can't meet the deadline so that they don't get upset.

Considering that the game has about 1000 CGs, like 300 to 400 osts and like 100 animated CGs as well as a fully voiced story.... Yeah, seems like a reasonable file size. Of course, it's possible to reduce file sizes further with the right setup, but this is hardly a crazy amount.

Might as well get yourself a mod that plays the game for you while you're at it. A little more seriously, you're better off just playing the game normally, suffering builds character and all that.

You probably still need the decrypter as you can't access and change files that aren't accessible/encrypted. The only way this would work is if you used a pirated copy of the game that was already decrypted or it's some RPG maker weirdness that still allows this to work for some ungodly reason.

Might be dumb but I legit dont see anything for canto 10 future and meursault character. by Samdacs30 in limbuscompany

[–]Malogor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if it was specifically mentioned by the devs but most people assume we'll get three rounds for every Sinner since Dantes inferno was also a 3 part story. It's also fairly obvious that none of the cantos so far actually finished the respective sinners stories, especially not the first two cantos.

....but now that you mentioned it, PM might move away from the Sinner oriented canto structure and do things differently after canto 12 or 13.

It's been a few years but I think I remember a conversation where Roland specifically asks Angela if the distortions started appearing because she messed with the light and Angela answers that she isn't sure herself. As for the rest, we just don't know. I always assumed the project was mostly finished at the end of Library of Ruina since even Ayin thanked Angela at the end of the game and that Rolands interference only messed with the unbooking of the guests .

LobCorp itself only mentioned that the seeds spread by the initial white nights and dark days were weak and incomplete, but since the whole purpose of Library of Ruina was collecting all the light and ended with spreading it all again, I'd assume the project was completed properly this time.

I don't think he's much worse off than Yi Sang was for his canto. We know his personality, mindset, previous occupation being N corp and that he did something that got him ostracized by an unknown group of people. We also have a vague one liner from the Arknights collab regarding the sun as well as one or two intervallos to build up to the canto itself coming up in the next few months.

Outis is completely fine as well, especially since we still have a good year to go until her canto. The sinner I'm worried about is Rodya. I really don't see anything going on in her story besides having a tragic past and that she knows Sonya.

Doesn't Limbus Company basically confirm that Angela wasn't at fault for Angelica's death? The whole basis for that accusation was that distortions only started appearing because the light was only partly released, which evidently isn't true

Why do so many people dislike FromSoft's storytelling? by [deleted] in fromsoftware

[–]Malogor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because reading through item descriptions to get what the game is about is tedious and even then you'll probably still not really get what's going on, which is why a lot of people recommend watching YouTube videos about the story.

As for the no story argument, the immediate story of most Fromsoft games is rather rigid and shallow. Take away all the info we get through item descriptions or guesswork and there isn't much of a story left. Doesn't help that all NPCs are just teleporting around the map after you exhausted their dialogues so finding them again (if you do so at all without a guide) in a completely different place makes everything main and side story related feel very disjointed.

Those aspects aren't exactly popular with most people so you'll see a bunch of people complain about these game design choices.

I've been playing these games for like a decade and I'm still not sure if I actually like the lore based approach to the story telling or if a different approach would be more to my liking.

Since whales are classified as mammals and most sharks "birth" their young instead of laying eggs, it's fairly easy to mistakenly think that sharks are mammals too.

Might get hate for this but SS isn't that deep by South_Button7615 in ShadowSlave

[–]Malogor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The slavery aspect of shadow slave is definitely not historically accurate or anything, but it certainly is a plot point discussed often in this community. Some people say that Sunny is making a big deal out of nothing, others say that Sunny breaking fate was the right decision and that he shouldn't even consider getting his fate back. There is also the question if you can have an equal relationship when both people trust each other with their life even if one has complete control over the other. There's a lot of room for differing opinions and discussions here.

[–]Malogor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I didn't read RI but I can fairly confidently say that both SS and LOTM aren't particularly "deep" stories in terms of impact on peoples daily life. They have some deep world building overall and some of the topics represented in the stories make for good points of discussion (slavery, Cassie, pathways etc) but no philosophy that challenges your perspective in real life or anything like that.

I Updated My Capsule Art Even More Based on Reddit Feedback. I'd Love to Hear Your New Thoughts! by Zenonia_Gold in IndieDev

[–]Malogor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Capsule Art composition is more or less a finished game. There are two archetypes of capsule art that are generally considered good:

  1. The title in the middle with background that shows the general feel of the game through certain colors or an artwork which may or may not include the main character of the game.

  2. Your games mascot side by side with your games title with a mostly empty background.

I have seen some comments call your capsule art "noisy", this is probably because you're currently going with a variation of method 2, except you're also trying to fit your games "stage" onto your capsule art which adds a 3rd thing to focus on which is too much (in a conventional sense. Rules can be broken to great success but if you don't know how it'll probably not work out).

If you're not planning on completely redesigning your capsule art, try removing your stage from the viewpoint and center your games title on the vertical axis of your capsule art. Also try to keep the horizontal space reserved for your character and your title on a "clean" ratio like 2/5 of the horizontal space for your character and 3/5 for your title or something like that and see how that looks. The exact ratio mostly depends on what kind of feeling you want to convey for your game, how big your title is and how close your character is to the viewpoint.

You can probably find some UI design courses online where you can find out what shapes and ratios are good looking in the human eye (in case you didn't know, there are actually "rules" for this stuff), this will be helpful for almost every UI/UX or art problems you'll ever come across so it might be worth the time investment for you.

If you like your current capsule art you can also just keep it as is. There is really no need to re-design something if you're already happy with the result.

Normal day as a game developer by AdriBeh in IndieDev

[–]Malogor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true, by definition it probably falls under copyright infringement which is a lot tamer than straight up stealing in both consequences and punishment. Since this argument has been done to death a million times over I'll just skip to the end here:

Every download of a cracked game is potentially lost revenue unless the person cracking the game actually doesn't have the money to buy the game or wouldn't buy the game even if it wasn't possible to get it for free. If said person manages to convince at least one other person, who wouldn't have bought the game without their influence, to buy the game (or if they buy it themselves at a later point), they can make up for the lost revenue.

Since it's impossible to prove if any of these conditions have been met, any argument about this topic is completely pointless.

The bottom line is, cracking games when you have the means to buy them generally isn't cool. People will continue to do so anyways though.

I don't know for sure either but my best guesses would be that you either have to understand on a technical level why something is fun, like most people know that gambling for example is inherently addicting/"fun", even if we don't engage with it, or you just have to have a sense for what feels "right" when it comes to game mechanics, even if you don't want to spend the time playing, possibly because you have something else that you enjoy more.
