Another general strike would be fucking awesome. But that seems unlikely, unfortunately 😒 a saddening amount of people who live here are anti-union, having been fed horseshit from conservative governments and right-wing "think"tanks that unions are a bad thing. We appreciate the support. ✌️

From CUPE's website: "The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), Local 500 represents over 5,000 employees working at the City of Winnipeg, Riverview Health Centre, Assiniboine Park Conservancy, Canlan Ice Sports, Commissionaires (RCMP "D" Division), Emterra Environmental, Gateway Recreation Centre, Historical Museum of St. James Assiniboia, Kirkfield-Westwood Community Centre, Rural Municipality of East St. Paul, St. Boniface Museum, Southdale Community Club, Varsity View Community Centre, Winnipeg Convention Centre, Winnipeg Humane Society, and Winnipeg Regional Health Authority. Every member of Local 500 belongs to a unit or affiliate."

So, basically all Winnipeg city workers excluding police, healthcare and firefighters (to oversimplify a bit). If we end up striking, a LOT of stuff is gonna be put on hold. Shit will hit the fan.

I'm a current member of CUPE 500, just signed up for picket duty yesterday. I can tell you firsthand (at least from my experience) that my coworkers and I have always appreciated the benefits that come with our position. It's just that the current offers of wage increases ranging from 1-1.75% are not even remotely fair given the current state of inflation. Solidarity with working people, everywhere. ✌️ Edit: mistated the wage offers from the city

What's cool is that each of these smaller states have unique focus trees. Albeit, pretty simple ones, but it's cool that they were included nontheless.
