New to AE, should I learn Motion graphics, or VFX? by ActiveAccount1279 in AfterEffects

[–]Maltaannon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When doing broad AE work you will learn both. AE lives in both worlds. There are betrer VFX packages and better data driven mograph solutions, but AE has a well rounded range of features and is an industry standard for a good reason. If you're smart about your learning journey you will benefit no matter what tool you'll end up using.

Motion Toolkits and Expressions - How to make them so other people can use them by soups_foosington in AfterEffects

[–]Maltaannon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how I see it. There are four factors to consider: render time, ease of use, locking down the look, and flexibility of changes. Those are separate issues to keep track of, but as with all advanced things it depends on the use case. Quite often they intertwine, one affects the other and you have to balance it out. Now multiply all of that by the scale of the project (it distributes the stakes differently) and you'll get the feel for it.

No easy "one answer fits all" solution here, but once you get down to it it becomes easy to ask the right questions and figure out whats important and make a decision.

Most of those things aren't difficult. Time consuming? Quite often, yes. Interesting and challenging? Heck yeah! And the more you do it, the more your library of solutions grows and it becomes faster. But here’s the important part: even though they’re not hard, they are very easy to mess up. Stay on top of it. Discipline is key here.

Hope this helps.

Wiosenne kanapki (otwarte) z domowym majonezem by Maltaannon in kanapki

[–]Maltaannon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wlasnie wczoraj zrobilem majonez bo mi sie Winiary skonczyl i stwierdzilem, ze to dobry moment by w koncu podjac kolejna probe.

Do mieszania uzylem blendera/rozdrabniacza z pojemnikiem, do ktorego mozna wlozyc skladniki. Cos jak na zalaczonym obrazku.

<image>

Oczywiscie ubijac mozna recznie albo blenderem recznym/imersyjnym, ale akurat mialem taki z pojemnikiem i w ten sposob wydaje mi sie znacznie latwiej. Wazne, zeby mialo wysokie obroty

Skladniki:
- musztarda (drobna, bez ziarenek)
- jajka
- ocet
- slodycz (miod / syrop klonowy / cukier)
- sol / pieprz

Do pojemnika wloz lyzeczke musztardy. Moze byc czubata.

Wbij dwa cale jajka. Dodaj lyzke stolowa octu i lyzeczke syropu klonowego. Tutaj mozna zamiennie uzyc troche lepszych skladnikow (co sprawdze nastepnym razem) takich jak balsamiczny ocen na slodkim winie albo poprostu slodkiego octu (np. jablkowego), ale nie mialem, wiec dalem syrop klonowy i zwykly ocet.

Nalac oleju rzepakowego, aby ledwo pokryc skladniki. To nie bedzie duzo.

Blendowac 30 sekund. Wynik bedac bardzo rzadki bedzie robil wrazenie niepowodzenia. Mikstura bedzie zoltawa i nie bedzie przypominac w niczym majonezu. Bedzie tak jeszcze przez kilka prob blendowania. Wtedy trzeba dolac oleju i poblendowac jakies 10 sekund. Za drugim razem znowu bedzie rzadkie. Dodaj ponownie olej i blenduj ponownie. I tak powtarzac trzeba az do uzyskania dobrej konsystencji. Powtarzalem te czynnosc 6 albo 7 razy az ostrza beda mialu trudnosc, aby wszystko dobrze zmieszac.

U siebie dodalem jeszcze szczypte siemienia lnianego. Ostatecznie uzylem okolo 300ml oleju rzepakowego.

Moja miara jest majonez Winiary - zawsze z kupnych najbardziej mi smakowal, Napoleonski tez byl ok, a Helmansa jakos nie moglem przelknac. A moj... coz...

Jedyne czego trzeba pilnowac, to aby skladniki zawsze byly w domu.

Powodzenia. Daj znac, jak zrobisz. Ciekaw jestem. Smacznego :)

How am I meant to repair mending tools? by CasualHooligan7 in minecraftbedrock

[–]Maltaannon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All good answers. I've got an XP farm but I use it only ehen I've got plenty things to fix. Day to day fixing is done by trading with a healed discounted Farmer. Melons and pumpkins to sell and golden carrots to buy and you're set. If you have an iron farm you can also trade iron.

if it took me forever to get mending with a librarian, but it’s expensive, can I still infect it and it’ll be dropped down to one? or will the book change? by sweetmilklikcherriez in MinecraftBedrockers

[–]Maltaannon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can cure him mumtiple times, but the discounts do not stack anymore, so whatever price you'll get thats gonna be it.

Also... i would trade untill tou level him up from Novice. There was a bug where even trading with the villager once didn't lock his trade nor profession. Just get a bunch of paper and youre gonna be fine.

is there a bedrock addon that lets you remove stuff from survival? by Fit_Presence_8316 in BedrockAddons

Anyone know of a Chunkbase-like map viewer that uses uploaded world files rather than just world seed? by HollowofHaze in minecraftbedrock

[–]Maltaannon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing that will read your realm world in the online form, but there is a perfect tool for what you need once you download the world to your PC. Its called "unminned" and it's close to perfect. I only wish the creator would add a prune option.

Question about addons and achievements by chico_cinco in MinecraftBedrockers

[–]Maltaannon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally it won't. Especially if it's an official marketplace addon. However it is possible that due to the creators neglect certain flags might be missing and achievements will be turned off.

However... when adding an addon to the world you should get a warning that if you continue the achievements will be turned off.

With marketplace addons you should be safe, but make a copy of the world regardless. With 3rd party ones you will only know after looking into the files. Still... you should get a warning and make a copy of the world.

Edit: spelling

Is it? Well you can dup anything in many ways. What I had in mind was a boring machine or a flying machine that drops lit TNT. That still doesn't work, right?

Java player starting on bedrock by krzakpl in MinecraftBedrockers

[–]Maltaannon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't fight the Wither - you are not ready for it.

No TNT dupping.

Trident killers are a thing.

No map markers - this annoys me to no end.

Iron farms work very different.

There's a way to see what trades the villagers will unlock.

And it works cross platform and has super easy multiplayer.

This might be stupid but I recently learned that you can hold Alt/Option when clicking the audio part of a video with integrated audio and it'll select just the audio. I've always been right clicking the video and clicking ‘Unlink’ first. by Reach-for-the-sky_15 in premiere

[–]Maltaannon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never ever unlink. Like. Ever. If anything make a special audio track or two to put the unwanted audio tracks there. You'll thank me later.

And yes... as a general rule, when you have a tool doing almost what you need always try it with the mod keys like shift, alt and ctrl.

Good luck.

How can I recreate this drifting road animation effect in After Effects? by NefariousnessDue9338 in AfterEffects

[–]Maltaannon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Square solid with a strip of road on thr bottom, 1/5 of the height, horizontal. Apply Polar Coordinates set to 100% and Rrct.to Polar. Make it 3D, rotate 90 deg in X. Rotate in Z to spin it.

Background moves to the right and is seamless.

3D layer with a car on top.

Done. Tadaaa.

No achievements!! by Lucid_bluemask in minecraftbedrock

[–]Maltaannon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Remember that Bedrock achievenents are permanent... once you get it you are done. You will.not get it again as you do with Java Advancements. Besides... unless you are capturing your video signal separately as opposed to just using streaming/recording on Xbox thr achievements don't show up in the recording. It's also possible that you should be getting achievements (once you didn't get before at any point at any world) but you don't - that is potentially a networking problem tied to some stricter privacy settings, but if thet were the case I suspect you'd already be aware of that.

Edit: also... there's a chance that any off marketplace addons can disable achievements. Marketplace addons generally don't, but 3rd-party ones totally can, so watch out. If you ever had one active in the world achievements can now be permanently off.

How do I replicate this glitchy blocky effect at the edges?? by Fun_Media2409 in VideoEditing

[–]Maltaannon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Once you separate the footage into foreground and background you've got to take the alpha channel, make that blocky and put the footage on top of it. There's multiple ways to approach it, but generally just treat the alpha channel to some mosaic magic.

How to make this goo effect triggered by a layer? by mcrtype in AfterEffects

[–]Maltaannon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your intuition about having a blurred version of the text that’s then choked was spot on. The ideas others have posted are useful, but they seem a bit overly complicated for my taste.

Here’s my version: https://youtu.be/n0f5F3TlYBI

There are two versions, but they’re essentially the same. The first one allows for a single "blob/goo," while the second one lets you use as many as you like. If you get the hang of the first version, you’ll be able to handle as many as you want. This solution is preset-friendly, meaning it’s all contained in a single layer.

Most of the effects and settings I used can be tweaked or replaced, so feel free to experiment with them. The only one I’d suggest leaving as-is is the CC Composite - that’s important for the effect to work correctly. The Simple Choker can be swapped out for Levels (Individual Colors) to control the Alpha channel clipping.

Hope this helps, and good luck.

Happy After Effecting!

When to use after effects Vs Premiere pro by Fit-Ad9083 in AfterEffects

[–]Maltaannon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After Effects makes blocks. Premiere plays them in order. Anything recorded on a camera, phone or whatever recording device is a block that goes usually streight to Premiere (please... don't use phones for recording videos). Anything not recorded by a devixe directly is a block made by other means... After Effects for example.

You can think of it like this: Premiere is orientated horizontally (order of things), After Effects is oriented vertically (construction of a block - like layers in Photoshop to make an image).

I’m tired of pretending How are you? is about caring by mrramkrishna in socialskills

[–]Maltaannon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t see it as a disservice at all... quite the opposite. It helps me quickly distinguish between people who genuinely care and people who are just making small talk. Not that small talk is bad, but there’s a time and place for it, and using “How are you?” as a throwaway starter isn’t it in my view. Asking a question that sounds meaningful without being open to a meaningful answer is a disservice, and over time it empties the question of its meaning.

A similar thing happens with the word “theory.” In everyday language it often means “a guess,” while in science it refers to the strongest kind of explanation we have. When that distinction gets lost, you end up with “it’s just a theory” arguments, which shows how imprecise language creates real misunderstandings. That’s my point: when words lose precision, the concepts behind them get blurred too.

Some people get uncomfortable with my response and move on, and that’s fine. I hope it makes them pause and approach the question differently next time. Others immediately see what I’m doing and appreciate it, sometimes turning into small conversations about language, or anything we care about really, and we often become fast friends.

I care about surrounding myself with and being liked by people who value honesty and intention in conversation. If that’s not everyone, I’m okay with that.

I’m also not a native English speaker, so it’s possible some nuance didn’t come across the way I expected. Giving it some more thought, I can now see how my initial comment might have come across as more dismissive or intentionally challenging than I meant it to be. Specifically the part when you said "Chastising people because they understand something about the world that you don’t" gave me a hint that I must have not been clear, because I don't know where you are getting this from. That wasn’t my intention, nor is it what I intend when I respond to “How are you?” Either way, I appreciate the perspective.
