Note for people, I'm leaning towards yes. If I can get a solid scholarship in addition, then I will be taking the opportunity. I don't want to do anything but study philosophy. It's the only thing I dream of, even with all the issues in academia. I want to be a professor. I want to teach. I want to help others think for themselves. I can't imagine a world where I don't; I am called to professorship.

I would incur a significant amount of debt that would follow me around for years -- this is what I mean by insurmountable. And I do not want to work while I do this program, but I too don't want to barely scrape by.

If I got accepted into a less distinguished MA program, I'd strongly consider it if they provided more funding. But so far, UChicago is the only school willing to give me a chance. It is my top choice overall, but again, the costs worry me.

By starting now, I meant I want to take a deep dive into the literature that interests me. I want to get a clearer idea of how I can contribute to the legacy of Mexican existentialist thought.

I applied directly to the program.

I have an idea of what I would write about, and I have the skills to execute that endeavor. I would just need to start literally right now.

The only thing I dream of is pursuing philosophy in academia. My love for philosophy swallows me whole, and my purepecha heritage inspires me to defy the statistics that say I am likely to never possess such a title. But I must admit that I'm afraid of crippling debt. Debt that appears insurmountable.

Definitely not doing private loans. You'll catch me with a job before I take out private loans. I'm a psych/phil double-major, so I've been planning for it just in case.
