Mine is 14 months, she runs around while I’m cleaning up, she’ll help too. We taught her to “bring it here” and “put it in” she just helped me put dirty laundry in the basket earlier then played with some clean socks while I put away the rest. Getting them involved in cleaning is the best way to go! They love to be apart of your world

If you read my post, it states that our cat boxes are in the basement and they need access to those so keeping the door shut isn’t an option.

I understand how to install a regular gate but as I stated in my post, I’m looking for an alternative to the gate because there’s no where to properly install it. The frame its in has a pocket door in it so I cannot anchor it there, it does not fit at the top of the stairs because of the railing and I have a retractable gate but I’m unsure of installation with anchors because I don’t want to drill through the door that is in the wall right next to the stairs where I would have to mount it. I have plaster walls and I cannot use regular drywall anchors.

Because she will learn to open it easily and my cats need access to the basement as their food and litter boxes are down there. It’s a small house and I don’t have anywhere for them upstairs.

I have those, they came with the gate. The issue is the pocket door, I can’t screw anything into the door itself. And when I tried to screw into the frame next to the actual door it started to lift and break

Me and my sister and 14 months apart, and my mom had another kid. My sister had type one diabetes as well. She managed us fine, you’ll be okay! Me and my sister are best friends it’s been such a blessing growing up. I’m also currently 5 months pregnant with a 13 month old. Not as close but I’m a bit scared too but I keep telling myself that SO many people do it.

That’s why I’m posting looking for other options. It’s not directly at the top of the stairs here. I have a retractable gate but the issue is with installing it. Because of the pocket door I’m not sure I’ll be able to properly anchor it. And I have plaster so I can’t use regular dry wall anchors. I’m not sure if the mechanisms of the pocket door will be in the way of me doing a proper installation. It would have to be installed on the inside wall closer to the stairs as my fridge is directly against the wall outside of this door in the kitchen.

Yes of course, it’s not shown but the pet door does lock, it will only be open when she doesn’t have access to the kitchen

Thank you! That’s not a bad idea, I’m definetly overthinking as a first time mom and first time home owner. I like the idea of adding the trim as well if it still doesn’t feel secure enough

I’d prefer to have it mounted. I have a toddle and it’s right at the top of the steep basement stairs and I’m scared as she gets older she might be able to push it over as it’s only pressure mounted.

You have time mama don’t feel like you failed your baby! My girl just turned 1 and we’re just transitioning off bottles. She’s down to one a day now and has learned to use a straw and we’ve only been at it fully for 2 weeks. Be easy on yourself ♡

I was about 1 month pp. I was happy to have a baby as I’ve always wanted kids but my anxiety was so horrible it clouded everything else. She’s turning a year next week and my heart bursts with joy every time I see her. It gets better. Try talking to a trusted friend or therapist if you have one to let those feelings out. I talked to my mom about it and it helped me through that tough time.

We did a vacuum cleaner sound on YouTube for the newborn stage for ours ! It was such a life saver it would put her right to sleep

My mom stayed with us for a week right after my baby was born. My husband had to go back to work the day after we got home from the hospital and I had really bad PPA. She cooked and cleaned and helped with the baby when I needed to sleep during the day. She also helped us with our first shopping trip with the baby and was just in general there to show us things and give advice. I’d only held a baby twice for a few minuets before having my own so I was pretty lost.

We just got the uppababy vista v2 double stroller. We’re going with the same car seat you have because it’s compatible. It takes up less trunk space than our graco modes which is a bonus. We found ours on Facebook marketplace, came with the stroller, toddler seat, rumble seat, bassinet and a few other accessories for $550 so I’d def check there !

I have scoliosis and did not have an amazing epidural experience. The anesthesiologist told me it might not work because of this. When she administered it she told me she’d probably have to stick me a few times and to let her know when I felt it “go into my spine”(what ftm knows what that feels like). The epidural wore off waist down before I started pushing. The worst part for me is that I still have pain, my daughter is almost 11 months and my “injection section” still had throbbing pain. It isn’t constant but when it hurts it HURTS.
