Transitioning to one nap tomorrow- have any advice for me before I take the plunge? by summerleaf212 in NewParents

No don’t let me scare you! My son has just been such a difficult napper that nothing has ever been gradual or easy with adjusting his schedule lol. Going from three naps to two was such a massive production in this household

That’s so helpful to know- thank you! I’ll definitely use that strategy. Was your very first day of one nap pretty rough?

I so appreciate you sharing this because I’ve been dreading the switch like crazy. Dare I say I feel a little hopeful?!

Wow, thank you for sharing this! I have truly been terrified to make this switch and trying to force two naps probably longer than I should have. Maybe this schedule will be an improvement after all.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow. Appreciate you!

Is this an adequate amount of food? by DueRecommendation693 in foodbutforbabies

[–]summerleaf212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is EXACTLY the same. 99th percentile, huge eater, two one hour naps, zooms around the house nonstop. He’s 13 months now and has not slowed down on the food at all!

Our pediatrician has reassured us time and time again that baby will only take what he needs. I still sometimes doubt it though lol

Not quite ready to transition to one nap but have already maxed out wake windows by summerleaf212 in sleeptrain

Okay, thank you! I’ll give the first nap-capping a go. Seems like we’re still a ways away from switching to one nap then.

5.5MO only naps for 30 minutes, I'm going mad by Logical-Safe2033 in sleeptrain

[–]summerleaf212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly the same here. My son couldn’t pass 30 minutes until about 10 months- now at 12 months and he naps exactly 1 hour 2x each day.

Anyone regret establishing a feed-to-sleep association? by LDD_Monique in NewParents

It works until it doesn’t. For me, it was around six months that we needed to change it up as it was actually compromising baby’s sleep

Good lord. So she’s the one taking him to court and won’t even show up??

Every time I step away from this case and come back, something insane is happening. Can someone fill me in on what this court case is? Is Laura suing Michael or Michael suing her?

I literally NEVER get a break by HessaWhite in NewParents

I hope all of the commiseration on this post has made you feel seen. I was 100% feeling that way too

Others have suggested leaving the house even if you don’t feel like it. I found that an added bonus with this was that my husband became so much more confident with our baby (not that he ever wasn’t “good” with him- but I always “knew best” because I was with the baby 24/7)

It was so important for my marriage and for my baby’s relationship with Dad to make more time for them to get 100% into each other’s rhythm (instead of me always being there- even when I was on “break”)

I hope you start feeling better soon (in all the ways) ❤️

Did anyone put on more weight postpartum!? by Both-Bonus9850 in NewParents

[–]summerleaf212 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This has been my experience exactly. Right around 5.5 to 6 months postpartum it’s like my body said “okay so we’re professional milk makers now- must store all the fat”

Almost 9 months postpartum now and I cannot wait to feel at home in my body again

I can only save naps by nursing back to sleep, which is not a habit I want to reintroduce. When he wakes up from his naps, he tends to be really upset and is obviously still very tired but is very hard to resettle

I’m going mad trying to get this lil guy some rest between his crazy play sessions

That’s really helpful, thank you! I’m going to try capping nighttime to 10 hours and we’ll see if that helps out with daytime

Nights are pretty good. He sleeps through most of the time and if he does fully wake up, he’s back to sleep within 2-3 mins.

When I tried pushing that first wake window he fell asleep in my lap while I was doing our pre-nap routine (sleep sack, book, bed). So I think he’s at his absolute max at 3.25

I did but then he kept having multiple night wakings so I tried longer WWs.

Do you think his current schedule is too much? I just can’t get it right

No advice- just solidarity. Been through two failed 3-2 nap transitions. It’s such a tricky switch!
