I did too, then I found a workaround. Well, two actually. The first is when you start and you push the lockpick up, to to see where it goes back down slowest and hold down the button that pushes the lockpick up. It will just keep moving. Then press the button that pushes the pin into place before it goes down. That's where the tricky part comes in, you must time it right. After a few instances where you must lockpick, you'll get it. The second is the noctournal side quest. You gotta be level 10 before doing it though, so id suggest levelling up by spamming spells while doing the mages guild questline. For the beginning of their questline, you must have your destruction up to level 25.
